Our Sabara jaboticaba was purchased in June 2008 and planted about a year later. It was about seven feet tall at the time of purchase. After getting some nutrition problems corrected in 2011, it has grown very well and has produced fruit for us for quite a few years now with up to three crops a year. This is the first time we've seen overlapping crops on it.
Our Grimal jaboticaba is about five years old and has fruited for the past two years. We will probably remove some banana plants so that it gets more sun so we can get more fruit from it.
Here is a video update of our Sabara jaboticaba 12 days later:

Very nice tree. Wonder if your delta soil ph helps?
@Figaholics
@Figaholics 4 года назад
The pH of the soil around my home is about 7.2. Although I had put some sulfur around this tree and chelated iron (as I mentioned on Cloudforest around 2011), not until I used a commercial product called PhotoGreen-S did I get growth from my tree.

What's a good fertilizer for jaboticaba? What type of fertilizer you use ?
@Figaholics
@Figaholics 9 месяцев назад
My jaboticaba mostly gets fertilized with my chestnut orchard irrigation system where I use commercial liquid fertilizers, primarily UN-32 (NO3 and NH4) and potassium thiosulfate. I also hand fertilize it with PhotoGreen-S, another commercial fertilizer that has iron, manganese, and sulfur. Generally I would probably use a citrus fertilizer for it if I was a backyard grower.

Nice thanks for the info I bought a citrus mixs Fertilizer today down to earth Fertilizer its has alot of stuff the jaboticabas will love like iron manganese sulfur zinc ect ect and its organic and I bought some mulch and mycorrhiza too .and yeah most citrus Fertilizer are on the acidic side of ph so that's always a bonus. I have hollytone acidic fertilizer but the sulfur with in it takes like a year to break down to become acidic and soluble available to the plant .so I got the sulfur pellets and crush them down and made it into powder form and mixs it in water then I water my plants so it can help speed up the process so that it can correct the ph in the ground

Planted a 5-year-old plant, so the year of first fruit would be??
@Figaholics
@Figaholics 4 года назад
I don't know for sure how old my tree was when I bought it in 2008 but it was 7' tall and a friend guessed it was 7 years old. I got zero growth for the first three years but after trying a new iron supplement (commercial grower product only available at farm dealers) it grew well and I got fruit maybe 2-3 years later, so my tree was at least 10 years old, most likely.

Sabara is the same as the red jaboticaba?
@Figaholics
@Figaholics Год назад
No, it is different. The red will typically fruit at a younger age.

When I did the video in October 2019 it was the first time I experienced my tree having both ripe fruit and new flowers. I have had as many as three crops in one year.
