Walking through the forest terrain during the day and resting at night. Short path is from Pamba river which is 3-5hours (depending on speed) of vertical climb to reach the top.

Please stop your religious propaganda. Buddha was also a Hindu called Sidhartha Gouthama, he was a kshatriya, he took Sannyasa and became Buddha. Please understand we cannot become buddha/sannyasi directly, because we need to complete our Brahmacharya, Grihasta, Vanaprasta before entering Sannyasa or before becoming a Buddha.

There was a teleserial on "Swami Ayyappa" which was telecast around 2009 in Malayalam and also i think its translation in Tamil. If you browse the you tube you will get it. I do not know how to give website link. Please see it , even though some changes and incidents are there, it gives over all the story of Swami Ayyappa. The title song is "Sabhari malayil vazhum ayyappa". Hope you get it.

Brother, I would like to share a valuable story, Please read it till the end....... "Now, If you have ever been to Sabarimala , a famous pilgrimage center in Kerala, you would know about the rituals the devotees follow in order to go there. The main rituals include, wearing a sacred chain after puja, and then the VRATHAM starts which should be observed for 41 days and to be completed before the commencement of the journey. During this period, the person is no more addressed as he/she, but only as “swami”, which is a term for God. Swamis do not have any kind of material pleasures, would live as a brahmachari and will be pure vegetarians for the time period. Swamis take bath twice daily and do puja with full devotion. There are in fact thirty six rituals to be observed and followed for the Sabaimala Pilgrimage, out of which eighteen(18) DOs and eighteen(18) DONOTs are there. If you want to go through the complete list, visit Sabarimala Rituals Now, after 41 days, swamis begin the journey continuously chanting prayers of Lord Ayyappaswami. They climb the mountain where the temple is located, with bare foot and with a sacred bag on their head that consists of items to be presented to Lord Ayyappaswami. Now, after everything, on reaching there, you will be welcomed by a message. || तत् त्वम् असि || That is You. You are that. You are the one you came in search for. You are the one you are seeking. The one who can help you in troubles. The one who punishes you. Your body is nothing but food, food is nothing but nature, nature is nothing but earth, earth is nothing but universe. Tat Tvam Asi. Tat Tvam Asi establishes Advaita, non-duality. If you understand this, you realize you are the God you talk about. Your duty includes helping others. And you also receive help from others. Because, by that you are only helping yourself. Because they are no different from you."

I don't know about Sabarimala.. But once Buddhism was popular than Hinduism in Kerala.. because of the effort of Aadhi Sankaracharya Hinduism revived in Kerala and northern parts of India

what crap are you saying Hinduism came before Buddhism and theres no proof at all saying that the shrine was buddhist, its a place where swami went and meditated. Then what about Swami's disciples who are christian and muslim , where there is a mosque and church build near the place ?

finding my comment illogical? think how Ayyappa who is supposed to be the son of Harihara (fused with both Shiva and Vishnu) could have possibly met got help from a Muslim who lived just a few hundred years ago?

first of all he didnt get help from him at all second of all it wasnt a buddhist shrine

+Baktha Wher in ramayana it mentioned about the Sabarimala ? not about any 18 steps.. but about sabarimala and ayyappan? and also how did vavar swami (a muslim) & ayyappan became friends ? muslims came to india only about 1000 yrs ago ? that too mentioned in ramayana ?
