Absolutely! I just risked a lot by showing Christmas Truce in a class in a school that is fairly conservative. The responses were so favorable! More than I expected! And the visiting teacher said she learned a lot. Most of the written replies noted "his voice is beautiful!"

You all inspired me to take up Swedish as a second language! Currently 95 days into learning, and I'm loving it. I've also taken up learning the history of Sweden and the surrounding countries! Such rich cultures and histories. Keep making music, Sabaton, and maybe drop some more songs in Swedish, I love researching the stories behind them! Update: I am now conversational in Swedish and I hope to study in Sweden when I graduate!

Lion from the North Caroleans' Prayer ..... it's SUPER hard for me to pick just one favorite off any of their albums! Changes with mood. Some days I wake up with Rorke's Drift in my head... others with Caroleans' Prayer.. yet others with Saboteurs.. When Dead Men Attack.. Panzer Battalion (aka Handsome Italian 😆)... To Hell and Back (my life hymn)... etc. And each time i can't get it out of my head until i hear it about a dozen times back to back, lol Carolus Rex i scream at top of my lungs every month when going to hospital in the car (my signing is so terrible it's not for human ears, so alone is best.. lol)

Then on the way to work it's usually screaming eagles. Invariably there's at least one point where my colleague fouls up and my response is usually "oh shhhiroyama!" (Boss doesn't like swearing) so that gets stuck in my head!

@@mikewhicker9771 Another one that gets stuck heavily in my head as earworm is Final Solution....that song has no business being so catchy!! I tend to inform people at random times during conversations *AND THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED* ... over which I've gotten some strange looks, but not as strange as singing WE BURN (a war I happen to be survivor of, somehow, at 14yo) or Final Solution while grocery shopping. Primo Victoria also takes people aback .. until they realize it's not pro but against Nazi. Sabaton is not just a band, it's a lifestyle! I have closet full of their tees to prove it (and eyeing some new ones now, but dirt poor & my disability check goes to care for Alzheimer's Mom... le sigh. Really want the Lady of the Dark tee coz she's from my country 💪). Don't have turntable but collecting their vinyls. Only theirs and 1 other band (BG). Shipping fees to USA is what kills me every time! Saw them only 1x (2019) front row... got Tommy's pick.. and even disabled (didn't walk for years) and in pain jumped for 2hrs in an oven hot venue. 3 weeks of recuperation afterwards! Every muscle was a "screaming eagle", heh. But...I'd do it again, no regrets. Last year they also came near me, but it was a day before my meds... impossible to drive 2hrs one way in pain. I don't engager lives for my amusement. When I'm working around Mom, I play Sabaton on Alexa and neighbors think I'm going to war! 😆 I just can't work without music & theirs happens to have lots of UMPH to motivate you to do chores... Plus it's singable if no one's listening. If Pilecki can infiltrate Auschwitz and Milanka take her brother's uniform & cut off her hair to go fight... I feel like a wuss not doing some housework despite the pain!! P.S.. I'm gonna steal "OH SHIROYAMA" 😂 that's hilarious! Also my ringtone is Verdun solo. Love it.

For translators: 'slag' is a swedish homonym with (at least) two meanings. It can be both 'strike' and 'battle', depending on the context. In this case the context is a battle, so a literal translation of the title is "A battle colored red". :)

Sabaton, i just wanted to thank you for your Carolus Rex album (still my favourite of all), which inspired my choice of topic of my pre-scientific paper I had to write to graduate school. I chose "Sweden under Charles XII." Truly an interesting chapter in history. It was tough to write, but I eventually got a 1 (best grade) on it. Thank you for your music!

Well it did change to it, was a whole segment on how swedes "broke" the war code (would call it breaking their humanity more but I digest). Still, it is a big deal to pretend to be someone else, literally puts someone outside the protection of the geneva convention even today, which is from what I understand why the swedes at the time did what they did. Does not excuse their retaliation at all, just puts a bit context on it.

Fun Fact: The swedish version of the song puts much more of a focus on the brutal treatment of the saxons and russians after they were defeated, what would be considered heinous war crimes by modern standards. The english version, however, talks more about how the battle played out and how much of a crushing defeat it was for the saxons and russians while not mentioning much about the brutality, glorifying the battle a bit in the process.

I live 15km from Fraustadt (now Wschowa in Poland). People don't believe me when I tell them about that battle and that song. They always have to Google it. Even 99.9% from Wschowa itself don't know about it. XD

I'm from Bośnia in California, best friends Polish so I'm leaning a little bit of it ..coz it's similar to my language. I'm gonna be looking up this Wschowa tomorrow! Only know areas around Łódź, Płock, Płońsk, Brochów, etc. And some of the places in Bieszczady mountains...and a few góral people & songs. See it as the album have two sides, the english one tend to be more heroic and show the good side, while the swedish side well... it shows more the bad parts of war and what we swedes did in history as more of a bad thing.
