You had less soldiers, a lot of them were sickly, Carlos was a big dummy, hence he didn't bring a lot of cannon, while Peter had fresh troops and a lot, lot of cannons. Also both Russians and Swedes were rampaging all over Ukraine, but you guys were definitely worse (ofc, an average Ukrainian wouldn't have heard of the Swedes pillaging and burning Ukrainian villages, because we have only one enemy in our history books), so more Ukrainians were either in favour of the Russians or neutral back then. Ivan Mazepa and his personal host were an exception.

Yeah the swedish version is actually a little bit different. The english version portrays the battle as mostly just a pointless loss of life and the swedish version makes it out to be more of a tragic but ultimately heroic sacrifice.

If you guys are looking for prospective candidates for songs, could I suggest: Joseph Medicine Crow, The man fulfilled all rites to become a Crow Warchief during his service in ww2 which involved: 1.Lead a war party on a successful raid 2.Capture an enemy weapon 3.Touch an Enemy without killing him 4. Steal an enemies horse. He was a Crow Warchief, Bronze Star recipient, Légion d'honneur recipient, Held a doctorate with 3 honorary PHD's, Presidential medal of Freedom Recipient for his military service and for for the work he'd done to better the lives of his people. Wrote 12 books ranging from kids books to crow history. He lived to be 102.
