Finally! I love how Sabaton played JS Bach's Air as guitarsolo. It's fitting. And a salute to general Walter Wenck that saved his people instead of following his order to fight to the last man standing.

As others have said, probably one of their best songs, both musically and lyrically. "It's about the men, who fought for them, what peace can they expect?" is an absolutely amazing line, gives me chills every time I hear it. Thank you for the reaction, Jammer!

This song was made for the paradox game hearts of iron i think or inspired by it and thanks to the efforts of the 9th and 12th armies 250,000 civilians were able escape berlin safely and away from the soviets

Due to a deal between the allies and soviet most of the 9th army was handed over to the soviets, many of which decided to end their own lives rather than having to deal with what the soviets would do to them

I mean sure the soviets weren’t nice, but they been through absolute hell. The German soldiers never gave the Soviet prisoners of war mercy, the soviets were either 💀 on sight (mainly the female Soviet prisoners) or put into a concentration camp to work and starve. So why should the soviets give the Germans a nice blanket and hot food? Yknow like. The western allies gave the Germans a whole 5 star camp, even those who did commit war crimes So many Soviet soldiers lost their entire families, their homes. And not just them, but Jewish people, polish people etc. if America or Britain was invaded and had all that happened to the countries Germany invaded. Those western allies wouldn’t be so kind either

“Try to save Berlin in vain” do they mean the Germans? But either way I do like that Sabaton doesn’t dehumanise the Germans. They know it was more than one box, per say, not all Germans were n-zis. There were just different groups with different mindsets. I guess it’s more complicated.
