If you live in the United States, many adults or those who go to school now do not know what has happened historically outside the borders of the United States. What I have heard from Americans who also react to Sabaton's music and the histrionics behind the songs. is that the history they have been taught in school is only about where the US has been involved in war. Even then about the 2nd World War, they have only had to learn from when the USA entered the war and precisely only the battles in which the USA was involved.
Correct! We were taught very little, either bc it wasn't presented at all, or bc it wasn't presented interestingly enough to us. (Depending on luck of the draw, though).
Thank you. Sabaton does a great job of keeping history alive. Another animated song “Lady of the Dark” is also about an amazing unknown (to me) woman in history. You might want to check that one out, too.
Thank you for reacting to this! I definitely recommend more of their animated story videos, especially No Bullets Fly and The First Soldier! I remember an interview with one of the surviving Night Witches. She said if you dug your finger into the fabric of the plane, it would rip. They were that flimsy. She was proud of her title and spoke fondly of a girl who had survived several flights out. Queens. Every last one of them. Their commander went to go find them, as they were considered traitors and defectors, since they didn't come home. She managed to find them all, proving they died for their country, accomplishing her goal before she passed. The best live performances from Sabaton is Uprising in Warsaw and En livstid i krig in Gothenburg.
For live performances I recommend 40:1 from Woodstock, Poland. Ghost division and Uprising from same event is really good too. And of course En livstid i krig live in Gothenburg. It's in Swedish so you need to have captions on.
