I can confirm that the samurai did use guns. But for warfare, the gun never took center stage for most samurai. From a quick search on Google, the only two times samurai have used guns in a vast concentrated use of power was when Oda Nobunaga ordered 500 guns for his soldiers and effectively won the Battle of Anegawa as well as the Battle of Nagashino and Saigo Takamori during Shiroyama when his samurai used muskets and artillery in his famous last stand against the new Imperial Japanese Army. www.tokyoweekender.com/2019/07/how-the-samurai-took-up-the-gun-and-never-let-go/ Other than those two times, guns in Japanese history before the 1850’s never saw widespread use for warfare. Most uses of guns can be traced to hunting as well as their use as ornaments.
