We had one of these in a half tonner built in the mid 70’s. It was a good motor until the starter motor died and was frightfully expensive to replace, largely because the starter, being on the right hand side of the motor, ran the opposite way to just about every other starter motor in use. The Sabb was replaced by a Yanmar.
Hello. Do you understand the repair of this machine? We use this machine on a lifeboat. But our machine failed and we couldn't solve the problem. The problem is that the machine runs continuously at high speed and the machine does not stop when we pull the stop lever. The control wire connected to the machine does not adjust. What could be the problem for you?
Have a look here for manuals etc.-www.frydenbo-industri.no/eng/brukermanualer/marine-propulsion-engines. These are mostly Norwegian and English together. The listed oil filters for 2HG are Fram PH9A or Mann W9. I had a 2HG in my fishing vessel until 2002, and, in the UK, the oil filters were Coopers Z27A, or Crosland 573 and 529/1. If you find a filter cross-reference website, you should be able to look up the equivalents to the Fram/Mann filters which are available in your country. Sleeman and Hawken in the UK took over the Sabb UK dealership/parts/repair from Mike Challis, but the Sleeman website contains some very useful instructions Mike prepared for gearbox repairs, pump repairs and so forth. I've used them to shim the gearbox, retime the fuel pump and other jobs, and they are clear, concise and helpful (all in English, of course). I'm assuming you still need this info.
