Hi Bob, Vinyl Storage Solutions (in Canada) have 12.75 inch gatefold sleeves that I use for all my Rhino High Fidelity copies, even the Obi slips in there nicely. Not just for RHF, but sometimes there are bigger jackets that are a tight squeeze for a 12" gatefold sleeve, so having these on hand helps a lot! Cheers
I enjoyed hearing your opinion and appreciate the honesty. My Rhino copy is waiting for me the next time I come back to Kentucky. ♥️ I can't wait to play it. Take care.
My impression is that Kevin set out to make the most balanced version he could and he achieved that. Somehow it has really brought out the tears from those who can't handle the idea of the UK Vertigo being anything less than supreme. Personally I enjoy having multiple versions of records I love and it's just more to enjoy. For example if I want really dark, I pull out the German Vertigo.
Thanks, Bob. Appreciate your take and thoughts on this record. I actually didn’t order one after listening to my 1st WB green label, which is fortunately very clean. I of course wouldn’t mind a new Rhino hifi one, but am fine without it. It’d probably be more out of curiosity anyway. It’s kinda odd that it seemed everyone up to this point wanted a Vertigo, but it’s nice to see the greenie getting more accolades. I’ve never had an issue with it, and it’s how I heard Sabbath my whole life. Thanks again, Bob.
Enough!! Every VC channel in the world seems to be doing Sabbath comparisons for this Rhino release I find it funny because they recorded it in 2 days and don’t think was meant to be a audiophile recording Play it loud and it’s going to sound great
It’s not audiophile but it is a fantastic recording. Think about all the great jazz readings that are audiophile in nature. Recorded in one day. Now excessive overdubs
Hey Bob! Great video as always, I found an OG US press right around the same time Rhino announced their reissue! The only Sabbath record that I have in my collection so far 😁
I have at least 7 different pressings of BS 1st lp, but no Vertigo swirl. I have the WB green, NEMS, WWA, the new Rhino Hi-Fi, and other Rhino reissues and a Sanctuary reissue(with a Vertigo swirl label it just looks cool not for sound quality). I don’t do shootouts I just enjoy them for what they are, it’s such a great album that’s all that really matters…☝I always enjoy your video….✌
Great video, Bob. I admit that I haven’t played my rhino yet. But I agree with your take regarding the OG, I love it. As you said, it’s all subjective, on a record that’s not supposed to be perfect. They aimed for a thick and dark sound, so the Us pressing delivers
I have the Rhino 2010 reissue, and it is impeccable. Years ago, I always thought the Vertigo was the one to get, so I never looked for a US pressing. Wish I had this info 14 years ago, but I can live with my reissue. I wouldn’t pay $50 for a VG+ US copy now, much less $100.
I missed the rhino and jumped on a sus greenie ? It turned out to be a Diamond for just under $30. Brilliant. I’ve got two masters, one artisan and a white WB repress? What was going on with WB pressing in later 70’s-they sound awful. The only WB album I can think of that sounds good is Tusk, and not every version. Should have got the Devo. That white label warners is ….hmmm? RCA seemed to be able to make great sounding pressings at the same time. Dynaflex sounds good on my system. Maybe it was Heavens Gate that sank WB.
I've had a US original I had the 2011 rhino reissue by Kevin Gray and I have a WWA press which has the VO6 samper same as the swirl The WWA original press is so much better than the original Warner brother or the earlier rhino reissue better everywhere bottom end sonics detail harmonic structure The crispness of the transients. All the Sonic richness of a first pressing versus what a reissue lacks. UK had the original UK tape. The US got the copy to make their records from. But like you said what is your favorite flavor.
