This is exactly the type of video we need, cymbals are very damn expensive, and it takes a long time to make decision out of fear of making a wrong choice, and its very hard to know how they actually sound like. Please sabian, do these for ALL your product lines!
check meinl videos 1. they have system in demos, you just select product you want to hear 2. drummer plays in real situations and plays same or similar pattern for different cymbals and then you can compare 3. drummer is better :)
Can you guys PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a exact video like this? But for the HHX line. I think people would like to see what you guys have to offer in terms of different sounds and flavors you guys have for your HHX line of cymbals!
I don’t mind the new logo as long as it stays on the bottom of the cymbal, I love Sabian for their sound, not their branding. Really unsure about having it show so bluntly on the chinas, though. That being said, I own the whole AAX Freq Pack and they’re all excellent cymbals regardless of which logo anybody prefers!
@@SabianVault the new logo on the batter side of the cymbals is great , only AAX , same like HHX , but I prefer the old logo on the bottom side of the cymbals ! best logo combo wil be only AAX on top and small old logo bottom side .
@@SabianVault I noticed some cymbals were missing. To be more specific, I didn't see the 13" Fusion Hats, 20" V Ride, 16" V Crash, or a few others...all the ones I plan to add or have right now lol. Does this those are being discontinued?
Devan Douwes if you didn’t see em, they’re most likely discontinued bro. V Crashes wasn’t one of their more popular series so I’d say they probably, definitely, took em out.
Wow, great video. Very well produced: it spotlights each cymbal for just the right measure of time to get a flavour for each. And the sound quality is wonderful. Credit the skilled drummer too of course.
Finally a video showing sound samples for cymbals. Now we can get more of an idea of what sounds like what. On the Sabian website you cant hear half of the sound clips.
SabianVault How about sending a fellow Canadian like myself some new cymbals? Im due. My aax xplosions are cracking. I have( I should say had) 4 of the 18”. I would like the aax xplosion ride. I have the Phil Collins ride. Its a nice ride but I want to change for the aax xplosion ride. I’ve been playing sabian since I started playing drums back in 1992. I was 11 years old. That would make 27 yeras. Pretty loyal customer if you ask me.
Loving what Sabian is doing!! The team said at PASIC that if I liked the recent AAX and XSR stuff then I'd love what would be new for this year. My favorite all time crash cymbal is the 17" AAX Studio Crash, I like the way the thin 17" crashes and X-Plosion crashes sound. I just ask if there will be X-Plosion cymbals in the regular finish, and if we will still have the Holy Chinas and Omni cymbals. Can't wait to try these out!!
I check out this video every so often to consider future cymbal options and I’m always blown away by all from the AAX line, but specifically by the AAX Thin cymbals. I think on my next gear purchase I’m going to have to pick up 2 of the Thin crashes (most likely 17 and 18), maybe even the 14 hats and one of the rides (21 or 22) as well at some point down the line. They’ll all blend nicely with each other and the rest of my Sabian collection!!
buy from ZZOUNDS or AMS and get 0% interest for 12 months, stop saving & start playing...you could end that long wait in 2 days with your first payment.
This new logo is simply sensational, gave a totally new and animalistic face to the company. The X-Plosion line is the best and most powerful there is, there are no equal Crashes!! Please print this new logo on all the cymbals hereafter!!!!!
Damn, that's loads of work. Great stuff! What was the ride in the beginning (the china comparison)? That one sounded great, very versatile. A 22" medium AAX ride maybe?
I don’t know why they haven’t done HHX yet. They should at least have done the AAX’s AND the HHX’s, and maybe XSR and then people can figure out the rest, but those are their main selling series
@@SabianVault🤔 😂 i figured you would be too humble to answer that. keep up the fine work. i was just at sam ash in franklin mills the other day playing around with the aero line 👍🏼👌🏽 niiice.
Good golly that first ride sounds so good. All the new logo haters are fools!!! I think it fits the cymbals very well. You want a plain logo, buy a plain cymbal!
Ernesto De la Torre Rangel I hated it just as the next guy, but I must say it has grown on me over time. I do feel like they needed some type of change the old logo was starting to look dated in my opinion. I love how they all look uniform on the batter side for sure. As long as the logo stays on the bottom, it should be fine tbh
I've played Sabian Cymbals since 2004 (AA and AAX models). I'll never play play any other brand again. Last weekend, I bought the 21" AAX Medium Ride - Brilliant Finish. It's a fantastic ride...bright/cutting bell and the bow has clear sticking with a nice tonal wash. The medium thickness makes this ride very crashable.....not to weak nor too much. After seeing this video, I'm actually thinking about testing out the 20" AAX Heavy Ride - Brilliant Finish. I'm thinking the tonal pitch of that ride may suit me better. If so, I'll trade in the one I just bought for it. Yet to be determined.

Jango Bango lol yeah I know. It was worth a try. The amount of money I spent on cymbal over the years should be enough reason to get a new set free. I usually have 4 crashes 1 ride 2 Chinese and 2 sets of hats when nothing is cracked. I had 2 splashes and a cymbal disk.
He didn't play every AAX cymbal. He didn't play the 21 AAX Raw Bell Dry Ride. If this video was recorded in 2019 the Raw Bell was available. It was released in 2009.
I'm a big fan of Sabian and a owner of 16 of their cymbals BUT... The new logo is awful, really awful... Can you imagine that logo on an artisan or hhx legacy cymbal?? It doesn't represent, aesthetically, the craftsmanship that those cymbals have.
Not a fan of the new logo, not because of the design, but when I would see the logo in demos, I would turn away from then, because I thought they were knockoff cymbals, didn’t know it was a new logos, that being said, I love the AAX cymbals, best series cymbals ever
Freq is just about the same weight of an xplosion... Go with a Sabian Medium Crash or Heavy Crash (they’re not on the vid but they do sell them now). If you crack one of those definitely consider how you hitting your cymbals or tightening them. Cymbals too expensive to be cracking man lol
Dr. Enthusiastic dark doesn’t have a weight class exactly with the new system at least but I’d put that under thin as well as studio because the Sabian AAX Dark crashes were thin, medium is stage, (I don’t know exactly what heavy is, maybe rock)
Not sure but I know they said they would be discontinuing a bunch of cymbals and just keeping it basic based on weight like thin, medium, heavy for example, they said they would be keeping the most popular models though so not sure exactly which ones are gone but a lot of aax crashes with specific names won’t be in the lineup anymore as far as I know.
Who mixed this? Distortion everywhere, and please play the ride as a ride and not a damn crash, how are we supposed to hear the stick sound when you're twatting it like that
Sabina. Look. Bring back the classic logo. You will eventually anyway. Every drummer/Sabina player that I’ve spoken too hates it. It doesn’t represent the product well at all. Like having an Aston Martin and putting crappy stickers on the inside of the windows! Poor decision guys. :(
Alessandro Gambino I was thinking the same thing. Its always like that. Never mind the drum fills and fancy off beats. Keep it simple and play the cymbals.
