I also prefer the Sabian. I prefer a darker tone with less of a "note". I suspect that the amount of "A" type hammering in the K Custom gives it the brighter tone. I also agree with you on the availability issue. On an unrelated note, which model ProMark sticks are you using?
The fact that the Sucherman ride goes through two separate stages of hand hammering really adds to the cymbals characteristics. I’m using of course the Promark Sucherman model.
@@IAMDRUMMER Ha! I'm also using the Sucherman model! Basically a 5B Maple. Wonderful stick but I really miss the Maple SD9, which was Bill Bruford's original ProMark model.
It’s interesting how the Zildjian is so much higher in pitch, almost a perfect minor 3rd higher. The Sabian definitely has more body/fullness to the tone, and a more refined modern sound. The zildjian still has a vibe, very characteristically zildjian and you are lucky that you don’t have to choose!
I love the Zildjian but I feel it gets lost when played in a band setting where the refined Sabian had a more distinctive "ping" that cuts. To be honest I am lucky and I am aware how lucky I am but it has come at a cost not only to my bank account, in saying that everything I have one day will be sold off in the eventual downsizing. I do also buy items to test, review and of course sell but some items like this ride will stay with me for a while.
@@IAMDRUMMER I meant no negativity by saying you were lucky by the way, you provide these awesome videos and share the cymbals with us, it’s great. Not many people doing comparisons like you. Completely agree with you regarding the Sabian being better, and it’s the one I prefer and would have for sure. The Zildjian is flawed, but it has “that” zildjian sound.
All good brother and I know what you meant, I get sadly but expected a bit of hate and negativity towards me and the channel but that’s the internet for you, I just try and be entertaining to a degree. The reviews will slow to almost a complete stop and I’ll focus more on lessons etc with a different spin so to speak but comparisons will still creep in. The biggest issue is getting items in because I would say 90% of what you have seen I have bought and a lot I still have, it’s not sustainable but if a company like Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste or any Australian companies were to send my gear I would play it and review it….right now that’s a bit of a pipe dream. The Zildjian on it’s on or in a less busy playing or band situation works so well and it’s a great bit of kit but the Sucherman Ride just works if you know what I mean.
i liked the sabian better from the first cymbal roll. the sticks do sound similar, but i like how the sabian is a bit of a lighter (as in less heavy) sound, but with a bit of a lower pitched ring. it's also a little more dry. i'm planning on getting the hhx complex ride
In person with no drums the Zildjian sings but gets a little too washy, if it was a little heavier like the Sabian it would sit perfectly. Having said that it is still on th kid, very addictive to play,
