I think Schumacher is one of the three reasons why Mercedes is that dominant today. It's not randomly that especially the Teams Schumacher worked in get that dominating. He came back, and did the same work he had done at Ferrari from 96-99. Together with Ross Brawn(who is the second reason) he formed and built up a team that does phenomenal work. Ross&Michael built up Mercedes GP. They formed that Team And made it work. Thats a fact as even Teammembers today admit that Michael was crucial for the Teams sucess today. And thats one of the things that makes him the best Driver ever. Because he is more than just a driver. He does more than any other driver ever did. The only Problem was - he already was too old to earn the fruits of his work. But it's easy to see that he had done something absolutely Special once again. Even if he was not that sucessfull on the track itself, as he was already 42 years old(an age where EVERY human being losses important things that are essential for such a sport...with 40 years fighter jet pilots must retire because every human being loses some of the ability to judge distances exactly at high speed- And that he still was able to challenge the Top Pilots in their best age - thats phenomenal And indeed shows how Special And phenomenal this guy was!), he did a Second time what no other driver was able to do even one time- build up a team that totally dominates F1! That was him. And Ross.
Yes! I've thought this for a long long time - it is almost as his Merc days were the early 3 - 4 years with Ferrari, with the positive results coming a few years down the line. It is almost a shame he didn't have enough left to keep going, because that would have been probably the greatest ever sporting achievement. Always get told that I undermine Hamilton's titles by saying this haha, but I still believe it.
Specially when you think that the team was operating with the same budget as williams which is ridiculous for a company like mercedes. its a shame that the year after michael retired thats when they started to pump money in the team.
The guy was a legend, and a great human being. He was/is a philanthropist beyond our comprehension. The story that leaked out when the Tsunami hit was amazing - the USA gave $10 mill to the appeal, as did GB. However it was leaked that an individual had given more than the two combined. That individual was the legend and hero Michael Schumacher. What a man.
Thank you Sabine. I found your story about Michael very informative. He was a national hero for a united Germany after being separated for so long. Loved it. 👍
If you listen to what both Ross Brawn and Sabine are saying about Michael, it is very clear that he is in fact the GOAT. - And thank you, Tom Clarkson / F1 Channel, for these great interviews!
They way the interview started gave me a lot of hope, but then came all the "he was... and still is...", "he had... and still has..."... as someone who grew up following his F1 career (like, most of my earliest memories are about watching F1 with my dad and rooting for Schumi) I wish we knew more about his condition. I still hope for the best! #KeepFightingMichael
She always says "had" and then corrects herself to "still has". We all know the state he probably is in and hope for a miracle. Keep fighting, you are still an idol for so many people. I still watch f1, started because of him :)
exactly. this pretty much sadly said everything about his current condition even without directly talking about it. She often forget and kept using past tense and then realized it and quickly tried to correct herself.
Nick Bransford Language barrier, maybe? The neck thing interested me though, because when he was supposed to replace Massa it was a neck injury due to a bike accident...
To all the people that say there's too much Michael Schumacher content, please just be satisfied and grateful that we are able to hear these stories. Of course I'm biased because I'm a MSC fan. Keep up the great work Tom!
That was fascinating! She probably knows her better than anyone other than his wife! I could spend hours chatting with her on the insights into my hero! #KEEPFIGHTING!
The story of Michael joining Ferrari and build a team capable of winning after five long years is probably the most inspiring thing in recent F1 memory. Lewis won't have that.
@@mamavswild if Lewis able to built a slow car into winning car, like schumi did in ferrari 1996-1999, and merc 2010-2012, then he deserve GOAT. i always schumacher fan and ferrari.
Very appreciative for this interview but also very sad that everything just "ends" in 2012. Now after Ross' and Sabine's interviews I've completely lost hope to ever see him again. Makes you realize how primitive and how far behind medicine is. I grew up celebrating and crying with him. 😞😭
From the hints over the years and here, pretty sure Michael is in a much better condition now. He may not ever make a public appearance again, but the hints are satisfying enough for me. And if the Schumacher family comes out with a positive update, the #keepfightingmichael trend will probably die down.
5 DNQs for Tyrrell in 1998, mechanics changing his name to 'tosser', hopelessly slow at times and never wanted by Ken Tyrrell, also driving for the doomed Lola F1 team in 1997 and being over 12 seconds behind pole in qualifying. Would make a great podcast.
@@ciaronsmith4995 just found this on Wiki haha: 'A further failure to qualify at Tyrrell's final race in Japan, where he was again hindered by injury, caused by a ride on the rollercoaster next to the circuit, marked the end of his Formula One career.'
@@dazcouz Hilarious. They should bring him on and make it a light-hearted podcast. Would be so funny to hear his perspective and some of the things we never saw. What on earth was going through his mind I wonder?
I really enjoyed following and watching Michael racing, even though I thought he sometimes crossed the line and bent the rules. When Michael dominated and won race after race and championship after championship I absolutely loved every minute of it, even when many complained it was getting boring and predictable I defended his brilliance. However I have been a little saddened at the relative silence and lack of insight and information from the Michael camp following his injury. I had hoped that yet again he could be an unquantifiable inspiration to so many if we could see and hear from him and how he deals and copes nowadays... I guess in a broadly similar way that Nicolas Hamilton inspires so many.
What happened to him was very serious; as a mother with a child with a similar injury, leave him alone; let him be remembered the way he was, his family knows this is what he would want.
I understand the fact that maybe the family want to keep things private but can’t we have an update? So many people worry and care for the champ and we don’t get anything?
its been hinted in this podcast that he still loves enjoying his time with his family. We dont know much but to me that is more than enough to keep me happy. Schumacher never wanted to talk personal matters publicly during his F1 career so I am not too upset. You know I just hope he remembers, he remembers what he did for the sport.
I still don't see the point in so secretively hiding a public figure's health updates. It won't make much of a difference if they give some periodic updates, even if it is once a quarter. People pray for him and love him. That won't change. But it's frustrating that some people, other than Michael, are 'hiding' him as if it's something that can get stolen if revealed.
Surprise. Public figures still have private lives that everyone should respect. You don't have the right to make demands from them. Put your feelings of frustration aside out of respect for Michael and his family.
Well, you see the sad truth is he was in a koma for a very long time and his actual state might horryfy most people, imagine a Michael Schumacher with 50kg and no ability to speak. A reason why we don't hear about him might be that his state is so bad that most people wouldn't want to believe that the Michael today is nothing like he was before.
I have a theory. Michael is way better than we all think and he was just sick of constant attention most of his life and took the opportunity of the ski crash as a way to finally have true privacy in life. Eventually I think he will want attention again and maybe 5 to 20 years from now he will make miraculous public appearance and be almost like his old self walking and talking etc.
Kevin C or could be Aryton, Michael, and Jules go to Cars-N-Coffee together Saturday mornings. Whatever his state, I hope he has peace in his heart and spirit.
All respect to Sabine, this is probably the first podcast since Tom started this, where it was really uninteresting. Information was a bit too generic or diplomatic. I can understand her current position, but a few anecdotes or insights would have helped.
why are you not asking the question that everyone wants to know?? How is Michael Schumacher?? everyone wants to know this?? is he improving? we want to know?
He is a vegetable that will never recover kept alive for money. Why do you think there is so much secrecy about his health? Because he is a vegetable, if he would have recovered even the slightest they would have said something....
If its not clear, Michael's privacy is important to him and his family, she hinted a few times that Michael still enjoys his family and friends company to this day and that should be enough.
Schumacher always seeked privacy in his private life and matters. So, as much as fans and admirers are eager to get information about his health state, I think it's not much to ask to accept his wish, even if he's not aware of what's happening.
RU-vid isn’t for podcasts... it’s a video platform. It’s great having interviews like these, but if you couldn’t physically video the interview, couldn’t you at least of filled the video with clips of Michael on and off the track?
RU-vid's for whatever they want it to be. Do you expect every book to have illustrations too? Turn the volume up and listen maybe? They're actually talking. Its not a picture accompanied by silence.
I download the podcast on my phone, so this is quite redundant. Nico Rosberg does a video of his interviews and stopped the horrible artsy editing. It’s interesting to see the video.i suppose it’s easy to ignore this, but I can see why someone would want a video.
I am big fan of this chanell, a big fan of you as a journalist, but this interview is a disapointment. I imagine that not talking about the actual times ans Michael state is mandatory, but the rest of the info was nothing new and there is not a slight comentary about what happened to Michael, how is he or even the reason for not speacking about it. A pitty
To this day I still cannot understand why the English speaking people do not say the name of foreigners as it sounds in their native language - in this case Michael. OK, for US people, we all know them being as not so smart, but here we have an English journalist and still he doesn't try to pronounce the name correctly. Even Sabine is not pronouncing it as it should be in this interview.
Cheating is part of being the best. It's simply pushing the rules. What team and champion doesn't do that? Very few of us could even imagine how incredibly competitive the F1 environment is.
He’s not a cheat every team every driver bends the rules as much as possible or goes over them he is no different if anything that’s what makes them so unique. Senna was the same there will only ever be one of them we should cherish all of them
