Unbelievable news. I was absolutely shocked and stunned when I heard about the death of Sabine Schmitz. Rarely in my life have I been so stunned by the death of someone who was not close to me. I was allowed to travel with her in the race taxi twice. These were experiences that I will never forget. Rest in peace Sabine,Queen of the Nürburgring
Your so lucky to have driven with her,it’s my biggest regret that I never went over there, she was my idol.what a brilliant woman I’m heartbroken she’s no longer with us but I will never forget her💔❤️
99,9 % of people sitting in real race cars just have the money to sit in real race cars. Being quite good PGR4 driver takes me 2 hours being much faster their cars,
Give her an opportunity and she's already overtaken the guy infront of you! Smooth , accurate , fair and respect from the field. What a wonderful driver and person Sabine was RIP.
she was thinking: ok, all these guys have much slower cars; and way less downforce, so i need to make sure im on the correct side, when they start braking way earlier then i would, so as to not run into them. And she's good at that ;)
@@godzillasdad Not quite. Clarkson was so proud that he got a Jag S-type diesel around in under 10 minutes, 9 minutes 59 seconds. She said she could do that in a van on Top Gear. In the Transit diesel, the fastest time she could pull was 10 minutes and 8 seconds. Unbelievably fast for a van but she couldn't quite beat it. She did take the Jag around and beat his time by almost 50 seconds though.
The true story of this race is that she is on wet weather tyres whereas almost all of the rest of the field are on dry tyres. This is why she is able to break and accelerate earlier and carry more speed.
@Branko Fink someone like her will still be very quick on a different circuitbl, may take a few laps to get the best time but still she is an amazing driver
To just even out the comments a little. If I remember correctly her car was sent to the back of the grid for not making it to the grid on time due to a fault, correct me if I'm wrong but it's also not too important as to why, more that she was at the back for some reason or other. The cars she passes are from a different class, the people she is truly racing are much further ahead and it took her another lap or two to close up on them. Again correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah that car has a lot more pace than those she's passing. Nice to watch her skill. Notice she gives everyone lots of room, there will be some mediocre drivers in a field that big.
@@robmcilroy1894 A lot of them who knew they were outpaced were giving up their place for her flashing their lights, not all though that was serious skill.
@@Dolby109 sure were . I imagine a lot were privateers with fairly stock GT3. Just the sound of the sequential box tells me this is a far from stock😁 gt3
The queen of the Nürburgring. So good I didn't want it to end. Amazing car and traffic control. Also extremely good at changing pace to match track conditions.
I mentioned that exact thing on another video I saw of her racing. The car in front of her would pull away from her on the straights because he had a faster car, but her corner speeds were much better than his. She made many attempts to pass; sticking her nose along side him entering the corners, but he kept cutting her off at the apex not allowing her to complete the pass. I felt if she pushed too hard, she might have taken him out, and therefore wished to run a clean race and not bump him out of the way. In reality, he should have let her go. Some might say he was just protecting his position but I think he knew that once she passed she would leave him long behind. Since there are more corners on that track than long straights where he had the advantage, he had no chance to keep up with her. Instead he cut her off constantly and didn't allow her to continue on and pass other cars and continue in her move up the line.
@@slayer8actual Yes, she seems to position and brake really late into corners then accelerate rapidly, losing almost no pace. Also her positioning after an overtake seems to close the door, but then she accelerates hard again. She is an excellent driver and I would like to see her in an F1 car.
She is magnificent in so many ways. Totally fearless and competitive...but patient and considerate at the same time. It was a privilege to watch a professional at her job. I would love to see her come to Australia for the Bathurst 1000.
The original video is from the VLN 2014 (Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring). The race last between 3 to 6 hours and it is similar to the 24hrs of LeMans or 24hrs of Nürburgring, meaning it is a mixed battle of cars in different classes. Frikadelli Racing Team won in their class that day and I think she also made a record as well. Like Schumacher, she's good when wet.
@ErsatzMoose First of all , it was a joke...second...delete that NFS from your PC and install something serious like iRacing with proper wheel like Fanatec or better and you'll experience plenty of that "no game" ;)
What a brilliant showcase of driving skills. The lines she takes is brilliant. Closing the door on overtakes from behind using another car's position and racing line in front. The car control, tje racing line for mid-corner overtakes.... She is something else. Which i could have Sabine as my driving record racing driving instructor.
WOW! I've been watching her for years and she NEVER disappoints. It's too bad she's from a different Era because I'm fully convinced she could have been one of the greats in F-1! Maybe even given SENNA, MANSELL and PROST a real difficult time.
even with everything going on at them speeds you can see how cautious she is and knows exactly what to do and hat to expect with other drivers. amazing
Sabine is an amazing driver hands down, but her car was also clearly faster than the competition and she probably had the right tires on for wet conditions.
She knows exactly which square millimeter of that track she wants and exactly the speed she should be at when on it. Over 20,000 laps of experience. Those other drivers didn't stand a chance.
Watching this on my 27" iMac, I felt like I was in the passenger seat for the whole lap. WHAT a privilege... WHAT an incredible driver I think I'll watch it all over again!
The timing of her braking and acceleration are beyond reproach on that track. She is a fantastic driver. I like the little fist pumps she does when overtaking in her class.
The rules don't allow that sunbeam, are you afraid of women?......Your avi would suggest you haven't been near one that wasn't your Mum or sister in your short and muddled life.....
On a track as wet as this, a "twice as strong " car would be a handicap, she is out braking them. And this is : "home track" to hundreds of people. Stop being jealous of a woman driver, just deal with it. She is better than you will ever be. Period.
I have met Sabine, she is an amazing woman and a fantastic driver that knows this circuit like the back of her hand. The Family have a guest house in the village, I would recommend it as a place to stay if you are in the area. they do fantastic steaks cooked on a hot stone... :-))
What amazing driving. I'm in awe of her driving that fast in the rain, and catching her 911 in corners just before it steps out. Truly one with her machine - Jinba Ittai.
You sure those guys are in the same class? Looks like she's overtaking GT4 class driving GT3 car. The rate of acceleration looks completely different. Some of them even give as if trying not impede a faster car. Maybe she got a penalty so she start at the back while other GT3 cars already far away when she clears the GT4 cars? If not then wow.
Raditya Indera I was wondering that as well. It’s obvious her car is far faster than almost all the competition. I know she is a great driver and knows the track like the back of her hand but her car looks way quicker than almost all the others.
You can see a lot of the cars are GT4, but another comment that I suspect is true, is that there may have been a restart, and she fitted wet tyres, hense she was right at the back of the field when it started again. The way the car turns into the corners would not be possible on slicks, and all other cars are taking the typical wet track - dry tyres lines. Just just a guess
She is one incredible driver, who I have seen drive before and can clearly negotiate this track in her sleep. I'm a little puzzled why she started a back of the field when the car and the driver are better than the majority of her competitors.
Dont know why this popped up but I was glued. Anyone else got Gran Turismo flashbacks. Even though I havnt played it for years its seems I can still remember the track.
Watching Sabine drive thru traffic on the 'ring is joy to watch. A "how to" for every aspiring race car driver. a) That she makes it look so darn easy is a tribute to how talented she was. b) Driven with surgical precision if the driver in front left spare inches she was good to go in the pass. Very sad that she left this earth way to soon.
coucou^^, oui elle est une spécialiste du Nurburgring, son jardin préféré mdr .elle habite a côté :p, la video date de quelque année. toujours très fair-play est bonne vivante.
More Sabine please. Her touch, feel and smoothness were just fabulous in those conditions. (I'm sure her significant other appreciates those qualities too...)
No, look up “gentlemen racers”. There’s a long tradition of amateur racers taking part in racing. They fund the team and 2 drivers. They also get to drive tho.
GT3 through the field of VT2 cars.... yes the 650hp make the 250hp bmws look slow, nothing to do with the driver. She had to start behind the field for a reason... where are her GT3 mates?
Unglaublich, bis es auf die Nordschleife geht hat Sabine schon mehr als 20 Fahrzeuge überholt und dann dreht Sie erst richtig auf!🤘😎 Hoffentlich geht es Ihr gut... LG
When she passes some of the cars it almost looks like they are just letting her through, as if to say, "We know you are far superior so just go darling."
That's because that is exactly the case. They're in much slower cars. She's in a GT3 car, they're not. She's a very good driver, but whoever posted this doesn't seem to understand what they're watching.
I just held a spoon in my hand for 8 minutes and 46 seconds without eating this ice cream. She has an inch by inch knowledge of that asphalt to drive like that. Beautiful
You need to know more about her. Do some research, and look at the other cars she is overtaking. I have followed her career for many years, and yes she is that good. The saying is "She knows that track like the back of her hand"' A brilliant driver.
A bit of both it seems. She is in A GT3 spec 911 and a lot of the cars around her are GT4/cup cars at the beginning. However there's still some GT3 cars she blasts past in there aswell and no doubt she caught up to a lot more after what seemed a poor qualifying...
the difference that being able to brake a half second later, get the right line to exit and probably being on the power a quarter second earlier with just the right amounts of power is a lot of the time.
@@johnswindells7426 i agree that she is great driver, no doubt about it, but this car are definetelly another level compare to other's.....she is double faster on every straight line than anyone else.....
Going around the Ring in the BMW M5 Renntaxi, in one hand the steering wheel, in the other a piece of cake and drifting corners with well over 200 km/h telling all kinds of stories. Mindblowing.
She grew up and lives lives close to the Nürburgring, it's her backyard. She used to drive a ring taxi (still does?), so she could probably drive the ring with closed eyes. And she has got driving skills. After one lap I would be in front of her. At least this is what it would seem to me, because I then would find her in my review mirror when she closes in from behind. 😁
She knows the track well plus on wet others play safer. I remember when she challenged Hammond on top gear that she can beat his time on this track with a VAN (ford transit)
No it's a love race, she was passing lower class cars, she didnt actually catch any from her own bar the z4 that spun on the gp circuit right near the start.
@@ldorman I believe she was racing in sp9 which is fully homologated gt3 cars and most of the grid she passed were Sp7 which are still racecars but determined by their engine size and often not backed by as bigger teams 👍🏻 look up vln classes and you will see.
Nice driving but obviously her car was a different league to the others. Also I assume they were briefed there was a fast car on the circuit as several drivers made a good effort to move out of her way (which she acknowledged).
Really?!, if you watched the whole video you would realise that she is not just racing against bmw’s but also other gt3 cars from porsche and even Aston Martin. Its not the car in question thats a different level but in fact the driver
