I personally believe they’re both talented, but Olivia launched her career at the expense of her private life and Sabrina took the high road (when Josh should have, imo - if Liv and Josh were even dating to begin with). Sabrina just continued living her life and putting out catchy music (Nonsense is an amazingly catchy, vibey, Ariana Grande-esque song ✨). She switches up her sound, which I really appreciate as a well-rounded listener of various genres. Olivia is still rocking with the sad, pitful “woe-is-me” rock/ ballad vibe… which I personally think suited her in her debut. But now, it’s just getting old. I don’t mind her sticking with rock (I think she’s brilliant at it, actually) but she needs to fully commit to the genre imo. She’s like rock, but not FULL rock (Good 4 U is her best song, which is what I was hoping her Vampire song would sound like…). I know it’s only been 2 albums, but I’m kinda hoping she’ll be the Avril Lavinge of this music generation- even, sporting some highlights or a hair cut or something to really pull it off (she’d look AMAZING with a bob or even highlighted hair in pigtails). Visuals speak volumes about artistry and convincing an audience, so she needs to go for it. The ability to re-invent yourself in music is highly admirable (and marketable) and Taylor Swift has been a hallmark of that for more than 15 years… so it’s only fitting that she recognizes that ability in someone. Being a major fan of an artist is not enough to quality to “go on tour” with them. My guess is that Taylor saw more of herself in Sabrina than she did with Olivia 🤷🏾‍♀️ no more, no less. Go watch Sabrina’s VMA performance and compare to Olivia’s and you tell me who’s ready to go on a stadium tour.
