@@kurushi857 Has she always been, though, or is that a new thing? I didn't know anything about her religious beliefs until I saw that she was involved with the "God's Not Dead" franchise and I was like, "No. No! Not you, too, Melissa! I know actresses have to pay the bills, but come on! Sinking to the 'evangelical propaganda' genre is just sad. YOU WERE SABRINA, GIRL! What happened?"
***** The sitcom's creators were very sensitive to the treatment of animals, so Salem was often played by an animatronic puppet rather than one of the 4 actual cats who are used for the non-dialogue scenes.
I wonder if that puppet still exists. And *****, you're confusing it with the cat from Hocus Pocus. The story for that movie takes place in Salem, Massachusetts: www.imdb.com/title/tt0107120
If its a magical villian, She probably couldn't do as well as Allyson Hannigan did with her character when she turned evil at the end of the sixth season. I seen her work in Holiday in Hand Cuffs, its great for a comedy suspense gig, but sorry, she can't round off a inter flection of that bad guy vibe activity. When Allyson's character turned evil, it wasn't just the high end graphics or the scary church clothing, or the magic she had been performing. She had been performing the drama of a meek school girl for 3 seasons, and for a year and a half it was a pent up magician who loves to have a bit of a party life. Now she did a personality change. She played a very angry misogynistic girl who's just plain pissed of her GF was killed by a social-path character. Anyway, I do like Melissa Joan hart. She is one of the greatest comedians, but I find a number of bad guy or girl acts interesting. The fact is you don't often see a female as often as a male in a TV show or a movie. But, sometimes they do it up and do it right. There were a number of characters that changed on the show, but Willow how she went from the Season one studious school girl to a raging lunatic who is evil because her own magic changed her was a transition that had a ride to it. Trust me, bad guy isn't Melissa's strong suit. I seen her impression of an 1980's punk Gothic girl...and its hilarious, but I wouldn't buy it. There is no way she can disguise that fun loving personality even when shes trying to convince you shes a head banger and a screamer. And yes, there is an scene of this in existence Lady Danvers. If you don't know of the scene, then you haven't immersed yourself into the content. There is another problem that has developed sense she was a teenager which prevents her from always performing exeedingly in comedy. She takes her characters environment way to seriously. It is sometimes an asset as a tool, but comedians apply the REVERSE as in negativity to explain a goal. They don't judge the character always, and some activity is a joke. But Melisa is aging just like a former star of I Dream of Jeanie has known as Barbara Eden. She joked her way threw magical mishap with another couple of charachters for several seasons, but allowed everything when the show went dry she focused on her environment, the failure of her son to drugs and written a very serous book as her humor had bled from her core. Her humor is dry as a bone these days and she is unlike the girl who spent her time on the set. True Mellisa tries harder, but shes trying to apply a very serous application to her humor, that they FORGET the humor of the by product of the problem is required when Drama Comdedies happen. Sabrina the Teenage Witch started out very humorous, but the humor drained out of it by the last season. Melisa's own humor was replaced by the effect of the charachters around her. One can argue her charachter is used to magic which she wasn't in Season 1. But, when one applies her past performances before Sabrina the Teenage Witch. See, I had thought she was getting back to her roots with Mellissa and Joey, but she was unable to do it like she had with the Wicked Brother and the Glorifying sister act in her prior performance to Sabrina. True I didn't see Mellisa and Joey and only advertisements, but I kinda think by applying a different position in life to a more adult roll, ABC Family hoped she would provide the slapstick comedy she was once found for. True, it would have helped if it was more mature. But, I keep remembering the comercial where she reacts to Joey "Yuck." Its funny. But its to Deadpan. Its like "Yuck, go away." Thats the problem, Joey doesn't have to be allowed to live there. A single parent or individual can be applied as well as a woman who lives with someone. But, she was supposed to do something mixed. So shes of 2 minds about him. Like and hate. Thats how a number of comedy shows survived. Okay? I hate Married with Children and my Dad does. I hate the comedy for a different reason. But these charachters lived together as man and wife in Diversity. One is a downtrodden shoe salesman who likes beer, pretty woman, a former football player. The woman likes money, more money, and stuff, and pretty guys. But they remain together because shes largely undesirable, she can pick on her husband and demand cash. Thus, we have 2 characters wedded, but very unalike. Also his charachter likes nothing more than relaxing and a good beer. So therefor we have a tangle. Edith and Archie in All in the family. Archie hated his wife for her stupidity, but at the smallest of times or often he felt pity on her for it. So its a DUO tangle. He also likes character and work, and performance. So his wife brushing in serving was a person he hated and loved. DUO. So you can get one or the other reaction. Edith was given to love and devotion of a 1950's housewife for which was a SOLID liked. But, her character remained studied to ignorance. They gave some other characters which existed, but Archie didn't like. And thus a comedy show is born. There are a dozen more of the examples. But, performance of a character and an example are different. On any age level its what it takes. Melissa Joan hart can still ring a pretty messed up girl and likes acting, so the effect is different from Barbara's and she enjoys her money. So there are lines and differences. Its the balance of a woman from a man that changes comedy and sometimes limits it. I am not saying its not impossible. But, if we do a comedian count. There are more men than woman. I don't think Melisa Joan Hart is a lost cause like Barbara Eden although her publicity is damaged and hope she can find her way back and believe its possible. But, a true bad guy act in a movie show is BEYOND Hart's capabilities. I don't look for just clothing, but the acting of a character on the interior or anything in acting. Its why I stayed away from watching Amanda Bynes. I could tell from her comedy at the start on All That that I didn't want to continue to watch her. She was a personality yank displaying her yank for humor. She yanked it, and yanked it. That isn't acting. Its a mental disorder. There were a number of comedians on All That who were true slapstick comedians. I didn't watch her movies and was happy to say I didn't or the TV show she did on the family channel, ABC I think owned it then too just starting out. Amanda Bynes was totally messed up. A personality disorder displayed is not a great joke if its real. Melisa Joan Hart when not acting who displayed her personality on set...was a good person. As was a number of others like Carol Burnett. She was a very warm person when not displaying her characters some who were not even nice at all like when she performed in the 1982 version of Annie as Miss Hannigan who regularly performed on her own show. I know the Amanda Bynes matter is a tear off. But I began and had to explain it. Its too long to explain back effect and really I totally spent way more time typing this than I wished and touched 3 or 4 subjects which the tear off the original bearing the goal of Melissa Joan Hart and the possible movie as the ultimatum villain. LOL. But, the comparison is pronounced for all parts in some way or another. Melissa and Amanda's are they had similar starts. But, different things happened and the WHY. But, the answer to Mellisa as a bad guy is in physiologic...thats the study of the Human mind. And her personality. Acting doesn't always mean a actor or actress can do anything. Most apply there own personality to acting good or BAD. Its rare to find a person who can switch there personality totally like Carol Burnette. I reckon if your looking for today's model there is. Shes younger than Melissa. Jodelle Ferland who played in Silent Hill changed her personality in the movie to play 3 characters. She is still acting as of 2018, and don't like a lot of what she does. She doesn't seem to apply her work to comedy, but more of a lot of edgy thriller/suspense type of acting. Mostly she has gone to Television appearances and as such I can't say I am a big fan. But, you wanted a name for the skill. That is it. The full 100% personality switch is a hard skill. Allyson Hannigan I reckon pulls off close to 80%. Jodelle Ferland like Allyson pulled off a great liked female model of a villain as a kid. In the same movie she played one of the good guys. and a 3rd part as a victim. Each character transforms as the movie progresses and in short sequences each character is given to change. Its why she survived the transition from a youth actor as a young adult easy. A 100% change is coveted in all Television/movie Genres. I also liked her work in Cabin in the Woods written by Joss whedon who also made and produced the concept of Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie and TV show. Jodelle instead of focusing on a genre chooses to change and never settling to raise well, she ends up as a middle ground actress often. There are people like her. They show up and disapear, and you think they are a one shot, but there parts level higher, but they change there setting. Its what Edward Hermann did. He presented his own personality often and started later in life than Jodelle, but there way is the same although instead of having a plain look Edward Hermann physical structure changed rapidly with aging. People forget to look for those kinds of actors/actresses. I call them "visiting members." They both have a list growing like an arm. They often have short time, or breaks like a hiccup but they go back out. Actors and actresses performances has kind of become a bit of a hobby for me. Sorry this is long, but one just seems like apart of another. You probably seen one or the other at some point or another visiting member, but it gets hard to connect the two.
ChatBoxGuy, I read all of that & somewhat agree with you. I also am a big BtVS fan & feel very few women have been able to be “sweet” good & “evil” bad. Some people only have one or the other in their repertoire. Alyson Hannigan was an absolute tour de force on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. That’s why people have been so welcoming of all the other projects she’s done. Melissa Joan Hart, though brilliant in her own right since she had not one but two successful shows has not been able to garner as much notice as she once did. I don’t think it has anything to do with her age (because she actually looks about the same), it’s more about her range as an Actress. She’s good with funny but when it comes to being dramatic (not teen dramatic or immature dramatic), she doesn’t do well. Some people are just too good & too nice to understand the depth needed to play evil or corrupt.

When you have a break down in your life... xD I used to watch her in both Sabrina and Clarissa, and loved her so much. This video cracked me up. Missing her characters/series so much.
BabyBells231 They got Johnny Depp to play Trump. After that, Melissa Joan Hart is not surprising. For some reason, the fact that they got Nick Bakay back to play Salem surprises me more.
If one show needs a revival, it's Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Imagine her being the mom to a male witch (to switch things up), who is getting into his powers, and her having to deal with Harvey having to disappear for a few years to avoid the ball of wax thing.
Wish they had done the voice recording differently, too. Maybe they just didn't have the budget to do it right but it was annoying to hear him obviously talking off to the side. They could have done this where it looked like the cat projecting the voice...
Sabrina needs to come back with a new series with Harvey and her kids where her eldest daughter turns 16 and has unstable magic. That would kick ass!!!
😂😂😂😂 how did I get here? Just wanted to look at Salem’s voice actor’s IMDB and now I’m here. Seeing this for the first time and laughing way too hard at 11pm. I have kids now Sabrina Damn! Lmao
Didn't see this before. Best acting she did in all seasons of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Man, I miss those times. "Gonna have some fun show you how it's done, TGIF!"
I know... Moments like that make RU-vid worth it! I LOATHE Harry Potter... Way too much crap in such a short of period time. Read the books, very disposable, and I just don't see why people make a lifestyle out of that series. Kid got what he deserved!
