☞ 👀 If you are going to visit Sacramento California make sure you add the Train Museum to the top of your list. It is truly a secret surprise. There is so much to take in and do with the restaurant scene to some incredible history of Old Town Sacramento. #Sacramento is often overlooked as so many drive-throughs. #TrainMuseum is very well done and make sure you do one of the tours to really understand the history of America as it changed.
We even stopped at the #JellyBelly factory to see what all the craze is about.

It is a great museum. It culminates all of the history of the state of California and the U.S. what was going on at the time. All of those influential people of the time and institutions really got their start because of the railroads

I have Lived in Sacramento my whole life and I love old Sacramento. Back in the mid 1970's there was nothing down there and the all of the buildings were in a state of decay. What they have done with it is awesome. The other point of interest there is that the Pony Express started in Sacramento and there is a monument there to learn about that. So glad to see someone feature Sacramento in a You Tube video.

That’s too funny you were in my hometown. I did my Master thesis on the train industry. There is a library next to the museum with all kinds of books I used for my research. I mainly focused on the finance side of it and the tour director was very kind in explaining on how they really made the money. ;-) It is all fascinating as well.

Thanks for sharing..I'm very impressed. My Step Dad was a steam fitter for the CNR here in Canada. I now need to learn our history from coast to coast...as a very little boy I got to ride the train from Toronto to our home town and it was a steam engine, I will never forget that memory....our to gold rush was in the Yukon...1000 or so miles to the north of there. Cheers ðŸ»ðŸ»

Todd, Shiela. I was raised just outside of where the Golden Spike driven. (Promontory Point, Utah). Also the have a museum there and do a reenactment of the ceremony. If you guys are heading north up the coast on the 101 to Oregon take a cruise to the Oregon Seal caves. If your going north over to Reno. Watch your self going over Donner Summit mind the hills and grades. If running up into Oregon watch the grades there. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"

The little town where you saw a Chinese cemetery, that is Columbia State Park. The last connection of the transcontinental railroad was in Lathrop California, crossing the San Joaquin River (about 1 hour south of Sacramento, near Stockton). Lathrop was named by Leland Stanford, for his wife's maiden name. That connection was September 1869, After the famous Utah Promontory Point joining celebration. Recommend that you head to Sonora to visit Jamestown Railroad State Park!

Fascinating! I have lived about 1/2 my life in CA. Born and raised native, but I've never been to the train museum. I did not know that the Jelly Belly factory was there. I'm thinking that is why Pres Reagan loved Jelly Bellies. Must have caught on to them during his years as CA Gov. Thanks for sharing! It's so fun to see you discovering places I know so well, and discovering places I've never even been! Sheila, please tell me that VOMIT flavored Jelly Bellies is not a real thing!!
