@khmerarmy - do you have to have a Cambodian phone number to use Passapp or Grab in Cambodia, or can an international number such as American or Australian phone numbers be used as well?
Yes, you need to have Cambodian phone number to be able to do PassApp and Grab calling for your transportation. I normally do PassApp for sedan (Toyota Prius) or SUV. SUV is a little expensive, doing sedan Toyota Prius through PassApp is affordable and nice air conditioning. You can keep your Khmer phone number to use it again next year visit or forever as long as you buy a dollar a month (Asking friend or family member pay for you to continue using that same phone number). By using the same number, you can use banking easily without having to carry cash ( Cambodia is hard to spend any dollar bill if it has marked or little ripped. Unlike Cambodia, Thailand and Bali and other tourists friendly countries, they accept dollar bills and exchange them regardless the condition of the dollar bills). We spend more time in those friendly tourist countries because we can exchange our dollar currency easily. When we in Cambodia, we use banking app to spend money.
