You're getting wrong translations with your Bisaya lesson. 'Gyud' doesn't mean finally in English. In fact, gyud '(gyud is actually a shortened form for 'gayud') has no exact translation in English language. However, in standard Cebuano language, 'gyud' means an affirmation to anything that is either said or discovered. Few samples: SAMPLE 1: Person 1: Lami gyud ang fried chicken sa Jollibee. (Jollibee's fried chicken is indeed flavorful.) Person 2: Lami gyud bitaw. (Yes, it's really flavorful). In the above sample, Person 1 uses 'gyud' to affirm that fried chicken in JB is really flavorful. Person 2 uses 'gyud' to vouch the first person's claim. SAMPLE 2: Wife: Naa pa ba ka'y kwarta? (Do you still have money?) Husband: Wala na gyud koy kwarta. (I really don't have money anymore.) In the second sample, the husband uses 'gyud' as a way to make a more powerful statement. SAMPLE 3: Man 1: Gwapa gyud si Pia Wurtzback. (Pia is really beautiful). Man 2: Mas gwapa gyud si Catriona. (Catriona is more beautiful). In the 3rd sample, the first man uses 'gyud' to make an affirmation on what he perceives on a personal level. The second man uses 'gyud' to make a strong point to win an argument against the first man. Conclusion: Gyud is not 'finally' in English. I live in San Juan La Union Philippines. It is opening more here. I have been able to get a haircut. And Chooks to Go was open for the first time in say 6 weeks! Yeah. You are so lucky to have one just down the street from you. ;-) went to the Market yesterday, only a couple of the stores were open. Lots of veggies though. I think Bret is just a normal young guy who is an animal lover. He truly loved butter, his dog. When you are self isolating, you can also get moody at times. You have to also consider that Bret grew up in a culture different than us filipino. I'm not saying that Canadian are not friendly, they are just a bit more reserved than filipino culture. Filipinos are more. bubbly & friendly in comparison to some cultures in the world. I have lived here in Canada for 40 yrs. now, & I think Canadian are the most awesome people in the world. My most trusted friends are Canadian. Back to Bret, there's a saying that " you can tell a young child's personality based on the child's interactions with an animal or animals". If the child is gentle with an animal, you know your child could never go wrong someday. That child will grow up respectful to any people around him. So, folks let's not judge Bret's unhappy moods at times, you will too if you are quarantine for almost 2 months in a house. Kyle & Bret, I'm glad for both of you & the people in the Philippines to finally slowly go back to normal now or shall we say to new normal. I just hope that the people will continue to observe cleanliness & social distancing & will not fall back of their old habit of taking things for granted especially the cleanliness part. Here, in Canada, we are slowly easing on getting things back to new normal, but in gradual manners. What I will not miss is the traffic. I got used to the wide open space on highways, & the serenity of my surroundings. Well, I hope the rest of the world will continue to heal, & we will eventually find a cure for coronavirus. You’re really such a nice guy Kyle. On some of Bret’s vlogs, especially the latest ones, we do see Bret’s reaction when you make sudden quirky antics - like that time when he raised the knife at you when you suddenly burst out to sing (i think that was the mango or the passion fruit vlog). He surely was annoyed at you. And the involuntary raising of the knife reaction was not going to be well received by Kyle’s fan base. Hence, perhaps these sudden backlashes against Bret... You’re face then just suddenly turned sad and its obvious to us, or to me at least, that you just dont want to think anything bad about it or towards him. That really shows your heart, Kyle. Dont get me wrong, i like Bret. He is fun, down-to-earth, very humble and also a really genuine person. Just tell him to be careful of those involuntary actions against you, not the uninterested blank facial reactions he does almost all the time but those.. you know what i mean. P.s.
