Having suffered from opiate addiction and withdrawal it's truly a beast and I know exactly what he's saying when he says he wasn't doing it to feel high or good, once you've been addicted for a couple years it no longer gets you high, you're literally just taking it to feel normal and not feel incredibly sick with withdrawals. It's fucking awful, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Been clean for a year now.

Except it wasn’t cocaine or heroin he was addicted to. It was painkilling medication and the barbiturates he was given as a small baby which set off his addictions. He should have received a better level of support instead of being raised by a narcissistic mother who ignored him and an absent alcoholic father.

@@IrishScribbler He went to live with his father at 14. I have never heard barbiturate use like phenobarbital in babies sets them up for addictions. Is that true? But I do believe it’s use could have caused him some damage somehow and affected his developing young nervous system

If I hadnt recently heard about Matthew Perry's constant life struggle, I would never have thought for a second that behind all that good humour was a man who had hit rock bottom because of alcohol and drug addiction. I've watched a few episodes of Friends in the past but I don't recall ever coming across any magazines saying "Friends star Matthew Perry has a drug and alcohol problem". I was very sad to hear of his death last Sunday and my condolences are with his family and friends. Rip Matthew ❤❤❤😢

@realmomgaming
@realmomgaming 10 месяцев назад
@@carriespencer3770 I take Adderall. As great as it once made me feel in my mind, body, and soul, I’m about 15 years now on it. 10 years consistently daily. it doesn’t work the same as it used to, and I’ve always felt like I’ve needed more and more. Super addictive and terrifying. I see my face changing and I feel like I can see the visible stress that I wear get worse. I am a mom of 2, and of course that is stressful. 5 years ago I really spiraled and abused this medicine. Taking 2-3x my actual dose every day just to get through the day. I’d run out of my 30 day prescription within 12-14 days. Leaving me to go through withdrawals for the rest of the time before I got more. Really hard time for me. Honestly if I hadn’t got pregnant with my youngest in 2020 and be forced to stop taking it, I probably would still be down that path. I am thankful that it happened on accident (I didn’t want another child, I already felt too stressed out for any more responsibility, but I was a GOOD mom regardless.) I’ll end this by saying although I am still on these meds, I have learned to only take what I’m prescribed. It doesn’t work really anymore. But atleast I Can control the amount i take. I still feel addicted though. Be careful out here friends🩷💔 I’m 31

He really looked bad. I was surprised to hear he died, but once I saw the clips of him in this last year, I get it. Back in ‘98 I was at a party in Chicago and a friend of mine saw him and said “pill popper”. I had no idea what a pill popper looked like. Turned out she was right. 54 is too damned young to die. Put in perspective? At 27 he was middle aged. At least he’s no longer suffering 😢

This is one of the best history of & tributes to Matthew that him tells his story, which is same story of many. Many forget that alcoholism/drug abuse are diseases caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain..... Non alcoholics have this chemical intact. It is not a matter of willpower for the sufferer to stop. Can a disbetic wish & stop being a diabetic? No. Both need to seek help & guidance & a trusting support team to help with recovery. AA is the best; founded by 2 recovering alcoholics. Avoiding DTs makes great sense as very painful & can be deadly. And as he stated, most don't realize they have a disease until in one of its 5 stages. So sad he couldn't complete all that he planned & wanted to help. 😥 Happy of what he left behind....the best of himself. 😊

People get me so aggravated when they say they don’t have pity because he didn’t do nothing about it! Here’s the thing some people are very strong and can’t get past their addiction, then there are people that the demons are so strong on them they can’t stop he did try and try and try, but he couldn’t get past it and being alone does not help a person with addiction. I am truly sorry for his loss attics are usually good people with a good heart but they just can’t fight The addiction . 😢

Unpopular opinion - if you take over 50 pills a day, attended over 6000 AAA meetings, go to rehab 15 times, trick doctors so you nearly get killed, all that reoccurring behavior for more than three decades... I'm sorry to say that, but you never really tried to get sober. You tried it for others, for the outside world but never for the sake of yourself. Doesn't mean it's sad that he died of the consequences.

People need to be held accountable for the choices they make in their lives. A disease is any harmful deviation from the normal structural or functional state of an organism, generally associated with certain signs and symptoms and differing in nature from physical injury. Examples: campylobacter infections, hepatitis a,b & c, flu Covid, measles, mumps & meningococcal. Alcoholic is a person who is unable to give up the habit of drinking in large amounts. I think it’s a disorder, they become dependent on alcohol and/or drugs or both. It’s so sad that people start out to have fun or escape. But then it becomes a prison for them.😢

Wow. The severity of physical damages done to Mr. Perry's organs was huge, and yet he survived them. The shock isn't of his death- it's more about that he lived even that long. One of his comments (if had not been prescribed Vicodin) came close to blaming someone else for his addictions. Enjoyed the fictitious Chandler Bing, but didn't like Matthew Perry as much.

Then you’re clearly a selfish moron who knows as much about this man as I do about women’s periods. Perhaps you should read up on how at just a month old, Matthew’s parents were told to give him barbiturates to help a colicky cough he had. AT BARELY A MONTH OLD. Or how his narcissistic mother and alcoholic father left him feeling that he was never good enough as a child through their self centred ness. Then you might understand how certain things which weren’t so good for him provided a release. My bet is that you’re the middle aged town gossip who never achieved a thing in her spoilt life.
