The second I heard this theme, I instantly fell in love with it, and it was pretty much my entire reason for giving the game a try to begin with. I've felt that Gamefreak's use of midi instruments for their recent games has always been an odd choice, so I wanted to try to make things sound a bit more real, especially with the guitars. I also wanted to emphasize a bit of tragedy and emotion, especially towards the end, but I also wanted to keep that feeling that you are fighting an insane AI construct.
