Get some marine heat shrink tubing that has hot glue around the inside that melts into the rope during the shrinking process… its absolutely awesome and effortless.

Everyone is a troll, sorry. It’s just me but pretty much any line bigger than 550 I melt the sheath and then dip the ends in latex poly for whipping . Make sure the sheath is well milked and let the poly soak in for a while. This won’t peal off like tape, shrink & twine.

whoa !! Was that a spider in your video or did one just crawl down my screen? (at 9:41); Since I didn't find it around my keyboard, I assume it was in the video... Thanks for publishing these series... on to Part 2 I go.

What is the purpose of the nylon wrap? Just to keep from unraveling?

That’s correct. When you cut rope you can melt the ends if its nylon but some of this saddle hunting rope isn’t so you need a way to seal the end of the rope. I really like the heat shrink tubes but whipping the end is just another option.

Hey I got my rope and found a forum where people recommended using a propane torch to melt the end of the oplux and trc and then heat skrink the end. Do you recommend that?

I’ve never tried the propane torch but I’m sure it would work to melt the ends. As for the heat shrink on the end I like using a heat gun. They’re real cheap at harbor freight. You could also use a lighter or the torch but watch out don’t burn the heat shrink plastic.

@@DoItThenOutdoors thank you for the reply. I did it and it worked out. I used a heat gun on the heat shrink to avoid the charrings I get with a lighter.
