Saddle Hunting was created to cut weight and bulk.
Although a lot of people have continued to carry large back packs and climbing sticks as well as tiny tree stands to stand on... We have not!
We do not follow the crowds when it comes to still being a pack mule, just a smaller pack mule.
No way. We will not carry any more than we have to. If you don't need it, we're not taking it.
With our saddle weighing in under a pound, our climbing method and ring of steps together weighing right at 6 and a half pounds we are the epitome of the minimalist, and we couldn't be happier.
This is my go-to mobile hunting method regardless of if I am heading out onto public land or simply hunting right behind the house.
If I can get up a tree and hunt comfortably with 7 and a half pounds, why wouldn't I?
I'll never forget the feeling when I first set out this hunt this way.
I stood on the porch thinking- I'm forgetting something...
I sure was. All the weight and bulk!!
But not just the weight and bulk, but also having to take all that stuff up and store it in the tree.
The more stuff you have in the tree with you, the more you have to catch the deer's attention.
Do yourself a favor.
