Is the passenger backrest heated? will you be doing a road vlog on how the seat comperes with the stock seat?
@MOTOBLADE
@MOTOBLADE 4 года назад
The backrest is not heated. But the passenger seat is. You have independent seat heating controls for rider and passenger. Will definitely be doing a road vlog comparing it to the stock seat. Saddlemen recommends breaking in the seat for 500 to 1000 miles. I am almost to that point. Did not want to do a review of the seat prematurely. I have a lot to say about it after 1000 miles though!

So the seats are wired directly to the battery? Do they turn off after a certain amount of time? Seems like you'd drain your battery if you have to remember to turn them off when you make stop.

Is there a adapter to plug in. so i don't hook up to the battery directly . you made a mention of a update. I got mine on order. I enjoy your videos!
@MOTOBLADE
@MOTOBLADE 3 года назад
There is no adapter unfortunately. What I did a few months later was use posi-tap connectors to tap the power lines into the ignition protected circuit of the bike, rather than directly to the battery. That way, in case I forget to turn the seat heater off (which happened on more than one occasion), it will now turn off automatically when I turn the bike off.

@michaelroy925
@michaelroy925 2 месяца назад
That does Not look like fun. I've had an ultimate seat on my previous bike a 16 Victory XCT the heated seat had a single plug that plugged right into the bike plug, super easy. Not sure why Saddlemen can't simplify the wire hook ups? Beautiful seat though 😊
@MOTOBLADE
@MOTOBLADE 2 месяца назад
It certainly could be simpler, and since I made this video they may have updated it to a simple plug - it’s been a couple years. But even so, it’s not too difficult to do. Just a fun afternoon in the garage working on a motorcycle. Beats work 😀
@gregmartisius3195

Did Indian have a terminal under the seat for a heated seat connection. My wife’s 2015 Vintage has a stock seat w/o heat, but plugs are there for a heated seat connection.
@MOTOBLADE
@MOTOBLADE 2 года назад
Yes they do, however, the saddlemen seat doesn't have the matching plug, hence why I wired it directly into the bike. I went back later and used posi-tap connectors to tap into the wires of the Indian seat plug, putting the seat on an ignition protected circuit.

Why can’t we connect the seat heater to the factory plug that Indian uses for their seat heater?
@MOTOBLADE
@MOTOBLADE 3 года назад
Good question! I contacted Indian about this, and the stock indian heated seat has a plug built in, but they will not sell you this plug. So, the only way to get it is to find an old seat and cut it off. What I did about 3 weeks ago (which unfortunately I forgot to film) was I took the positive and negative wires from the saddlemen and used positap adapters to wire them into the wiring circuit for the Indian plug. Thus, they are now on an ignition protected circuit (so I can't accidentally drain my battery if I leave the seat on).

@MOTOBLADE

There was, but I did not realize it at the time. A few months later I went back with some posi-tap connectors and tapped in directly to the 2 pin switched power plug so the seat is now on an ignition protected circuit.

It does. Not a lot. Maybe half an inch or just slightly more? I'm short as well, and I feel I'm a little higher on my toes at a stop. I agree with you 100% the amount of cables they supply to power this thing is ridiculous. If they could just run it to the Indian harness connector it would be perfect!! Does the nose of the seat sit closer/further/or the same distance to the gas tank? I have a aftermarket passenger backrest and it’s very close to either working (or not!)
