Correction: some Muslims are also persecuted in these countries, treated as second class citizens. Some Hindus are also persecuted in Sri Lanka, mayanmar etc. Besides that, the most interesting fact is that the word 'persecuted' or anything to suggest religious persecution is not mentioned in the amended Act. Which means, everyone is welcome, expect Muslims irrespective of religious persecution. Finally, look into NRC and it's requirements (you will find them in many good news sources too) and check out NRC Assam results. No illegal immigrants found and 20lakh citizens declared foreigners of which 11 lakh are hindus. Big fiasco!!! It means even you can end up in detention center. People had to spend 1000s of rupees to get the documents. Families are split. Army/air Force personnel's also didn't make the citizen list. Just check out the process. You don't want to support this Act. It's bad for you for all of us. Godi media won't tell you that.

So why are they ruled out? Also, the Constitution does not permit treating any person differently based on religion. So one of the primary reasons to have that clause is a strong desire to change the status of Indian minorities like Muslims, dalits, SC, St into stateless people. Just like what's happening in Assam as we discuss this. Sadly, in Assam, the people that have been rendered stateless are not illegal immigrants; many are citizens who got left out due to paperwork or execution errors.

I am from Bangladesh. I follow sadhguru for yoga and meditation. But you gave a very wrong information about Bangladesh. You said, in 1971, 3 million Hindus were killed. That's not true. 3 million Bengalis were killed. Majority of them were Muslims. People were killed because of their language. That war was started because of language, not because of religion. Eventually it became the discrimination against Bengalis in economic, political and every other aspects. And most Bengali speaking people are Muslims in Bangladesh.

They need to wait for 5 years to get the citizenship and if you see people who came before 2014 and seeking indian citizenship have already completed 5 years duration. And if you put question on year 2014, why this particular year is chosen then i would say we need to choose some year for this then why not this.
We always take some time from the citizenship seeker to prove one's loyality towards nation and constitution as well as one's conduct like in citizenship act 1955, it was 10 years. But as per this CAA 2019 it is 5 years. And as per my understanding if you choose 2018 or 2019 as the base year the act will only be in books and its actual ground implementation would be after 3 to 4 year in this case.
