Concurrent programming is infamous for its difficulty. Hazards like data races and deadlocks are often hard to diagnose and fix. This talk gives an overview of concurrent programming in Scala, with a focus on reconciling seemingly contradicting aims such as scalability, safety, and productivity.
Philipp Haller is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and Communication at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. Previously, he held positions at Typesafe, Stanford University, and EPFL. Philipp received his PhD in Computer Science from EPFL, Switzerland, in 2010. His main research interests are programming languages, type systems, and concurrent programming.
