I Took Out The Extractor Cleaned It , It Looked Ok I Put It Back Together Now It Works Flawlessly Not Sure What The Problem Was But Thank You

In my first range day today, my roommate was shooting his first rounds of el-cheapo Wolf .223 steel cased through a Stag Arms 5.56 chambered AR-15. He had a failure to extract jam. I had to get a RSO over and he cleared the chamber like a champ with a special ramrod. My Roommate thought it was a stuck unfired round, but I quickly checked while the RSO was fiddling with it and it was indeed stuck, but an already fired round with a dimple sufficient for the round to fire. I think if he spent a bit more on better .223 ammo (preferably brass case) or otherwise got some cheaper Lake City plant 5.56, he would have done much better and had less malfunctions. My only malfunction of the day on my guns was a failure to feed on my main carry gun; the CZ-75 SP-01 (during my first 140 rounds through it at the range), but it was because the magazine jostled free of being fully inserted for some reason. Ended up being about a 1/4 inch short of being fully inserted. A simple tap and rack fixed the problem.

My ar pistol seems to not extract the round Manuel it passed the one round test locked back no extract

My brothers ar-15. So it fires 2 rounds then won't eject second fired round. I measured the buffer spring. Little over 11.5" 40 coils. The bolt carrier is all good. The gas tube in the chamber is where it should be. I don't have the tools to remove the barrel guard (hand guard what ever its called). So I cant check the gas block. I tried the single round test and it operates like it should. So why does it have trouble getting past the second round. Maybe the gas port has gunk in it. I don't know. I at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. By the way just subbed.

Kansas Farmer so it passes the one round mag test. what does the 2nd round do? Is it getting stuck? or just not moving back enough to eject? Try taking a video with your phone and look at the bcg movement. See how far it goes back during the cycle. When you do the one round mag test what is the ejection pattern of the round? Is it landing in front of you, behind you, or to the side?

@@G2niverse on the second round as far as I know the bolt stays closed but I will have try the camera out and see what exactly the bolt is doing. As far as the brass ejection pattern. It hit the deflecter at a 3 o'clock position on the first round then 2 o'clock position on the second. So that's why I think there is gas bleeding off some where. But I just can't wrap my head around where I could be having this problem. If the bolt slightly opens then closes. What is happening? If the bolt stays closed. What is happening? Every time there is enough heat something expands and there isn't enough pressure to push the bolt far enough back. Maybe I'm thinking to hard about it. Thanks for the information and the help.

Yeah the ejection pattern is ok. I wouldnt look to much into that. If the bolt isnt moving back far enough you have a gas leak somewhere, the gun isnt properly lubed, you might have an obstruction in the buffer/lower receiver (buffer retaining pin) OR you just have a underpowered batch of ammo. The video will tell you a lot about the BCG movement. -Check the BCG gas key and make sure its tight and staked in two places on the screws holding the key to the BCG. -Check the BCG for odd wear patterns and scratches that may tell you if its rubbing against something. -Fully lube the buffer and spring with some grease (not a lot, just a nice coating. I like lithium grease, get a big tube of white lightning at walmart for $5. -Try a different ammo.

@@G2niverse I figured it out. The magazine well latch is bad. The latch wasn't holding the magazine in place. My brother will have replace it. Man! The simple things will always throw me off. I was over thinking it. But I learned a great deal in the process. Thank you for helping me through it.
