I always say this to all participants of my Solar PV webinar & seminar... "An overrated overcurrent protection device (circuit breaker) is far more dangerous than an underrated one."
Sa mga nagtatanong na naguguluhan kung ano ba talaga ang dafety factor for circuit breaker caculation para sa solar PV system, kung eto ba ay 125% o 156%, eto na po ang video para sa inyo.

@JFLegaspi Sir 52A po ang calculation ko with safety factor for PV to SCC and SCC to BATTERY BANK. Ok na po ba ang 50A or deretcho nasa 63A parang over rated na po kasi sa next breaker Ah sana po masagot thanks!

Same question. Since 156% na yung max allowable. Ibig sabihin ba we should round down the mcb rating, to make sure na hindi ma exceed yung safety rating? Pero round up naman pag sa conductor rating?

Ang 32650 at 18650 aty matrabaho. Mas magandang gumamit prismatic LiFePO4 cells 😊👍☕️

I still have some old 30W Modules with Isc 1.75 A. Imagine i use 50 pieces in parallel to have 1500W total PV Energy in a 12 V System. So my max current would be 1.75 x 50 x 1.25 = 109A. Next higher Standard size MCB is 125A, right? Do you would need a 25 mm2 cable rated for 170A. Here i start to scratch my head about such regulations to follow for PV Installations. Maybe they dont know the price of copper nowadays. Using 3 modern Panels of 500W and Isc 14A instead a MCB of 16 or 20 Amps are just fine as the 14A cen NEVER go higher. And if you use 10A ot less it will trip when the sun is shining. So why I need to study Regulations with hundrets of pages to comply, when some common sense will do? Next year i will upgrade to a hybrid Inverter and apply for a Netmeter connection. So I follow the laws here to be conform.

The best solution for your solar pv system dilemma is to use an inverter (hybrid or grid-tied) that supports 500V or even better 1000V PV Voltage. In this setup, you won't be doing parallel connection but rather series connection that could result to a lower Isc (short circuit current). In this way, your system will be become efficient and would only require a 4mm^2 to 6mm^2 PV cable.

@@JFLegaspi HI JF, That was just hypothetical to point out the dilemma about the MCB size. As PV voltage drop and cable cost matters, parallel solar panels don't make much sense anymore. Inverters are also built for 11 or 13 Amps per MPPT string. So I just see a 16 or 20 Amp Fuse in real life. Maybe those regulations are made at a time, when Solar panels had much different specs.

@@JFLegaspi you are right considering 12 and 16kW Inverters. As my consumption is rather low, it's not really on my scope.
