Great job on the video! Can you control the air-assist ON/OFF via Lightburn on a layer by layer basis?

There's 3 inch exhaust port right below the main port. It's ray shielded so you'll have to use proton torpedoes.
@DIYAudioGuy

Awesome. Would like to see how you routed the exhaust pipe to the outside.
@Toid
@Toid 4 месяца назад
You’re right. I should’ve shown that. You basically just need to make the 3 inch hole in a board. I made a custom board that was 6 inches high and the width of the window so that it fits in the window and I can just close down on it.

@@Toid I just had a big fan from harbor freight aimed out the window and rolled the laser in front of that fan. I like the idea of an exhaust system a lot better

It's been almost a year since I bought the X-Tool D1 Pro and I just powered it up the first time yesterday. I have to say I'm having some problems with it. No home or limit switches and no obvious way to ever have a consistent home position are just a few issues. Edit: Figured out most of the issues. Found the screen where you set power and feed rate finally, that helped. Now the only real problem is there doesn't seem to be a way to register it to a fixed permanent home position. It has no limit switches at least in Y so it crashes into the hard stop frequently. Selecting home, it just takes off in Y from where ever it happens to be and if you hit home again it just takes off again until it hits the hard stop. My CNC has home and limit switches, home is always in the same place and it always moves back to that position after completing a run. The X-Tool really needs to work the same way.

No limit switches? That didn’t sound right. I do have an ex tool, I’ll have to look at it because I don’t remember it not having limit switches. If you use the program Lightburn it does have where you can put different home settings in. I will say that that is one thing I do like about my CNC better than the laser. The software just seems to work better for that. But I would download Lightburn and try the free trial. See if that helps you set up your home position better

@mfkhometheater7742 3 месяца назад
@@ToidYeah, I have Lightburn and it's definitely better but it's still way too easy to lose the reference position. Just breath on it and you can shift especially the X axis. You can't move my CNC when it's energized. The X-Tool does have switches in the X axis so I don't know why it doesn't in Y. It gets all upset when you drive past the limit in X and starts a high pitch tone. Edit: Turns out it does have Y limits but the flags are mounted too close to the end stops so the sensors can never reach them. In the back, the cable and air tube also get in the way, I need a better way to route them so they don't limit travel. Either way, it looks like I need to drill new holes and move the flags so the sensors can reach them before hitting the hard stop.

@@mfkhometheater7742 oh, good. Now I don’t have to go look at mine. Lol. on a serious note that really does stink that it doesn’t hit it. hopefully once you get that working, it’ll work out better for you. But I do completely understand the frustration. In my opinion, the laser is harder than the CNC for alignment.

@@Toid Yeah, no easy way to position it can be a problem. I'm working on building replicas of the old Altec Model Nineteen studio monitors and I need to etch anodized aluminum skins for the crossover networks. I have parts coming already cut to size including the two holes where the L-Pads mount. I need the Altec logo and other print to be perfectly centered, not just on one, but several.

@@Toid I have the Y sensors working. Most of the problem was cable routing preventing it from reaching the limits, but one flag did have to be adjusted.

I haven't yet. Are you thinking cutting through or engraving? If you mean engraving,t hen I have. Cutting all the way through, no.

Cutting through. When I see the internal bracing for speakers, I wonder if anyone has tried a thin (relative) Aluminum sheet CNC cut and sandwiched between two sheets of thinner plywood. (Or if you can afford it ... richlite )

Sounds like the 1.6w laser is for super fine engraving. Since the 40w module is likely multiple diodes stuck together, the 1.6 is probably a finer beam...

I've had mine a few weeks and the included rotary does not match any of the promo videos. It's the roller type instead of chuck. Additionally, one thing none of the reviewers have tried, obviously, is extending the z-height with feet. Out of the box, the machine will not allow the tray to be removed in operation. Has magnetic sensors to prevent this. Seems misleading at best, and a poor design at worst.
@scrampker
@scrampker 4 месяца назад
FWIW, Creality support is pretty confused. I had a long chain of emails with them, asking me to demonstrate their own product's behavior (turning the laser off when the tray is removed,) because they had no idea that even happened. This was while they were promoting that I purchase separately the legs and a chuck rotary. BOTH are things they imply you get with the Rotary kit. They are photographed(photoshopped) right in the photos on the listing on their website. For such an expensive product, I feel like I got completely screwed, and zero support. Misleading at best, flat-out lies and deceptive marking at worst. In their promo material they very clearly show the F2P with legs and no tray. Likely it's just a crap photoshop, but I have a feeling I'll need to build my own magnetic by-pass. For something that's essentially marketed the Bambu Labs X1C of laser cutting, it's sad to have to resort to these measures. Additionally, it's a bit misleading as to how the various components work together. There's nothing fancy about this machine in any way. The camera is quite literally just a USB webcam that plugs separately and annoyingly into your computer. There's no communication between the CNC and the camera. None.
