If you didnt know, Sagat was a representation of how Muay thai fighters beat other styles in fights in 19th centaury, where most raw martial arts from different countries were put to test against each other. That's why he's the final villain and he's insanely powerful.
Yesss and they were really early to represent this, when mma was still in it infancy and really only fighters knew about Muay Thai and Boxing smashing so many other striking arts.
@@justamurse5646 Well, today ... the most popular and probably most efficient combination is Muay thai (striking), Wrestling (take downs), and BJJ (ground work).
@@iROChakri wrestling wins homie, no doubt. Just an fyi wrestling involves a lot of groundwork too, controlling someone. American folkstyle exists for a reason.
@@justamurse5646 Actually no, pure wrestling never wings pure muay thai. This is because muay thai stance invites take downs but wrestling stance invites knockouts. When we see a video of wrestling vs muay thai, a wrestler actually uses a boxing stance (better footwork and faster movement), and they even strike. Its always wrestling with striking ie mma vs muay thai 😌
@@iROChakri nah man go look at the first few UFC’s. Muay Thai purist we’re getting dumped on their heads and choked/pummeled to oblivion by wrestlers like Don Frye, Dan Severn, Mark Coleman. No wrestler in a real fight is going to be bent over at the waste, or need to be to get a pure striker down. To think that is just inexperienced. It’s hard to find anything like that no, almost any one crosstrains to some extent.
This dude (next to Tony Jaa in Ong Bak) is why I love and practice Muay Thai. Sagat is a beast. He also has a bald head, so that's extra points in my book.
@mr.thomas3833 Yea I agree Sagat was most influential character that got me involved in Muay Thai from Karate. His solid mass dense bones brutal strikes does it for me😎😎😎😎😎😎
Yes! He was always my favorite! This channel puts out so much good content! Some mispronunciations here and there, but you can't complain when they're doing fan serve to such a great variety! Thank you!
Not one to correct people, but this literally was making my head hurt. The names of the Street Fighter characters Sagat and Ryu are pronounced Suh-got, and Re-you.
nahh..the information came to the world years ago..he just love those americanize names. Just like the guy with the video game history chanel. (the guy with high top hat) Still calls ryu as rye-you to this day
People's name can be pronounced anyway you wish, it's usually the person themselves that decides the way it is pronounced and since these are make-believe characters, say it however you want
I played and beat the very first Street fighter. I did not have that kind of luck with subsequent versions. The machine I played on had two oversized buttons. One for punching and one for kicking.
"All his moves were so clean and smooth". This entire video is awesome, and the analysis is on point...but that quote made me become a subscriber. You a real one, keep up the great work!.
People seem to forget Sagat Beat Ryu in a fair one vs one but Ryu tapped into the Satsui No Hadou when injured so that’s the only reason He beat Sagat . Sagat is the real best in the world
In the early games I thought Sagat was actually very similar to Ryu , and Ken. With many people believing that Sagat got his scar from one of the two in that rivalry outside of the tournament.
@@yendorthegrand4078 Ryu is an actual Japanese word and name-. This isn't a debatable issue as their is an established correct way to pronounce it. If japanese person pronounced Richard as Rick hard that would sound just as dumb too.
@@yendorthegrand4078 it's not MY "established correct way"! Japanese is a language spoken by over123 million people for thousands of years. Are you telling them all they're pronouncing their own words wrong?!
@@uxm4life94 I'm not saying that anyone is pronouncing it wrong. You are saying that. I'm saying that we have our own way of things. It doesn't hurt any mature person.
I saw that too. It was Malibu comics, I think. And he didn't cut his head off, he scalped him, took ALL that hair off lol, and sent the scalp to Ryu. I do think he killed him tho
Love this "series" of origins. If I may make a suggestion, if timestamps can available for the different aspects of the story? Like Chapters?? (I don't know what YT calls it)
This is good now on the other real fighters of the series Cody Fei long and Guy and adon and the legendary assassin gen you can't leave the life and constant deaths of charlie Nash and the rise of gill the line in the movie I guess you didn't see that did you
Lol “I GUESS YOU DIDNT SEEEEEEEEE THAT DID YOU?????” One of the most memorable lines! I thought about that while watching this. Glad to someone did too.
I’m so upset with sf6. They completely abandoned such good story telling potential for a story that sucks. I’m so sad. I loved street fighter with all my heart.
