Here's something most sf fans don't realize Whether Capcom Games Intended it or not,in the Street Fighter games the Story of Akuma/Gouki and Gouken's paths is being Told Through Ryu's own Journey...based on the path he chooses of the Warrior ,In the main canon of SF,Ryu has Mastered the power of Nothingness(Mu no ken)after years of finally Purging himself of the satsui No hado,Following in the path of his Master Gouken, learning of a peaceful way to Teach Ansatsuken,While evil ryu's storyline is basically a what if timeline where Ryu Gives into the Satsui No hado Abandoning his Humanity becoming Like Akuma in the Process and the new Master of Fist. Ryu is a Reflection of both Masters in their Prime Evil ryu's Storyline and concept as a what if character is basically Capcom's way of showing us a mirrored version of how Akuma gave up his humanity for the Satsui No hado and became a demon,we're just seeing it unfold as if we are seeing a Version of Ryu turning evil.. liked evil ryu's story the most in Street Fighter Alpha 3 because it basically shows us a endless cycle,Ryu in this storyline ultimately succumbs to the Satsui No hado, becoming the New Akuma and the Master of fists, after Killing Shin Akuma, then setting across the world to fight worthy opponents,I also like how in the street fighter 4 series even though Evil ryu's Storyline in that game has no Continuity with his alpha 3 Storyline We see The evolution of Ryu becoming more similar to Akuma,Red hair,Dark skin
Ryu does not seek to teach Ansatsuken, in fact he refused to teach Sakura and she learned from watching him fight. Ryu is even more responsible than gouken, sure that to learn Ansatsuken is a curse, and he tries to master it on his own without spreading it. I’d like to think all of the instances of evil ryu are canonical, with Ryu repeatedly refuting and succumbing along his roller coaster path of mastering it, finally throwing it off as kage, with kage waiting for the final epic fight with oni when gouken dies.
@ironhell813 you have it completely wrong,Evil ryu isn't canon otherwise that would make it impossible for akuma to appear in later games alive,Evil ryu's ending in the alpha games implies,Shin Akuma was killed in their battle, along with half of the main cast, and Evil ryu takes on role of the master of the fists
it’s still could , alpha 2 only implies it doesn’t substantiate it. He could be the new master of the fist by being trained by Akuma instead of defeating him permanently. Kind of like how tekken works… In sf4 Akuma tells Gouken that the fight is for the right to train the “cub” (ryu), so I guess I got the storyline right as a kid and literally no one else did lol That’s how I saw it and ironically, I wasn’t a tekken fan as a kid and never knew the storyline so it’s amazing that I saw SF story line similar I’m sure it’s Japanese bushido.
@ironhell813 he literally kills Shin akuma in his Alpha 3 ending,to become the master of the fist, you missed the whole point Evil ryu's storyline in alpha 3 is a parallel to Akuma's Origin Story. Evil ryu=Gouki/Akuma Shin Akuma=Goutetsu There can't be two Master of the fists, one of them has to die,for the new one to take the title.
@@Tommy-yz4rm you parallel goutetsu with shin Akuma but that would only susbtantiate what I said, because goutetsu allowed Akuma to replace him, and that could have happened with Akuma as well… Shin Akuma didn’t die, he became oni as shown in sf4…. He was angry in the wilderness and threw himself into a crater? And became a demon… Then either he or ashura sent ryu into the moon… Similar to how evil ryu came about… What you don’t seem to get from tekken is that in these Japanese universes, you have to die to be reborn stronger… It’s the essence of bushido. Goutetsu just didn’t want revenge… Has zilch to do with who’s “master of the fist “…
@@city.592 oni is the final form of akuma that's best way I can describe oni is like this there's akuma (base) then there's shin akuma which he's powered up than there's oni which that's akumas final form
Evil ryu and oni are both of my favorites characters in street fighter 4 it pretty awesome how hes got almost the same move set as akuma but i hope yall cover oni in the future too
I hate how every Street Fighter adaptation keeps lazily depicting Evil Ryu in a Hulk-like state. He's supposed to act like the complete opposite of his normal self: A brutish, sadistic and megalomaniacal @sshole.
Though evil Ryu is an interesting hypothetical what if Ryu succumbs to his darkness, though I favor him as a righteous fighter who does not need to take the path Akuma has to gain more power.
You don't get it the point of evil ryu is that he follows akuma's path,In the canonical storyline Ryu is following a similar path to Gouken(Mu no ken)with the Teachings of oro
