I think your door idea is the best iteration. I can't say enough about how great your videos are, you have mastered the art of perfect balance.

The best edited videos of this kind on the internet. We get to see how everything is done without the tediousness of the tasks. Great work on the vessel as well.

I love this comment, my sentiments exactly. We get to see just enough of how things get done without getting bogged down for an entire video on one seemingly trivial detail. He is also multitasking most times and that makes it so much more interesting. I really like BWT but this format is so much better. Life on the hulls is amazing as well. He has a bit too much personal life travel unrelated mixed in but doing amazing work.

I disagree, sadly the content is in the last year and even more in the last six months deteriorating in a unprecedented rate with repeating, commercializing, and timlapses

Regarding the bends for the door way, to get the bends you require you simply cut them from a straight piece thick enough that allows for an inch or so before and after the bend.

I agree with anthony rondolino 100%. The only difference I would have considered is a better use of light foam cores above the center of gravity. This could have saved maybe a hundred pound and helped smooth the ride in rougher waters. Only a very small difference...however, excellent planning and workmanship.

I’ve been an Audible subscriber for over 12 years and long before Amazon. Some of my favorite police mysteries are the Bosch series by Michael Connelly. They take place in L.A. and you’ll have the added advantage of hearing street/place names in your fiancée’s area. If memory serves Silver Lake is mentioned.

A seven layer laminate won't spring back enough to notice. Incidentally, the way to cut things like your deck beam to final length is with a thin kerf japanese back saw. Put the beam against the surface you want it to fit against and cut it in place. You only remove the thickness of the blade from the end of the piece. A couple of cuts and - perfect fit.

Engine work made easy. Combustion engines work on the following principals Fuel and air get sucked into the cylinder. The piston goes up reducing the volume. Using the combined gas law P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2 P2 goes up, V2 goes down, and T2 goes up to maintain the equation. Thus ignition in diesel if you're using gas then a spark is used to help since they run at lower compression ratios. Oil lubricates the parts, water cools the parts. It's very simple. Suck, Bang, Push, Blow.

The biggest problem with spinning an AC generator is maintaining correct voltage and frequency because both are dependent upon engine RPM. AT the same time, simply generating DC that matches the battery bank voltage is also not optimal because it is easy to overcharge the batteries. You have to look at a full electrical SYSTEM solution. IMHO, for good, clean, consistent (voltage and frequency) AC power you need an inverter, likely in the 3KW range. An inverter of that sizes requires at least a 24V battery bank (48v would be even better if you have the space). Solar charge controllers for 24V or 48V are not an issue. Now we are back to a DC generator for the baby Perkins. Balmar makes 24V alternator and regulators but they are expensive. It is possible to convert a standard 12V alternator to produce 24V or even 48V with a special, external voltage regulator.

Funny, just came to conclusion that your like the Mr. Rodgers of Sailboats. This just came to me, even though I have seen everyone of your videos since you picked up Athena. Are you still working your computer job? I know Europeans have and take more vacation time then us, Americans but feels like you were just here in the US not so long ago. (Doubt it feels that way to you guys. :) ) Again, love the channel and I'm not a sailor. It just therapeutic, like show here in the States called "This Old House", its just neat seeing the craftsmanship.
