Your channel has become one of my favorites! I am a novice sailor and find your insight to be very helpful. Thanks for taking time to document and share your experiences! Looking forward to "tagging along" to Key West and beyond!
G'day Jason. Well done on the stop leaking project. I think there are two items you should consider going crusing. 1 an wind turbine to generate power, and and self steering wind vane to steer the boat as they do not drain the battery. Gerard.
Hi Gerard. We're day sailors, with maybe an occasional trip, so those items really would only make sense if we were full tie cruisers. When we get a larger boat, we will see!
The boat i have is a bit too small. Thares no room for an shower, when i have the right boat, that i will keep, then i would spend the extra on those items. Gerard.
A word of advice regarding the clamps on the hoses. The tensioning screws should be positioned 180 degrees from one another. These types of clamps place far more pressure where the screws are and by having them 180 degrees apart it balances the pressure. A pain in the arse in tight spots (everywhere on a boat) but important. The hose will be far more secure and less likely to leak.
@@AdventuresInParadise No we have not made the trip. We have a 22 ft here in NY which I may or may not upgrade next summer. On the 22 we wouldn't be sailing straight through to the keys.
Noticed hose clamps weren't clocked on one side of your leak repair. Probably because of lack of access. More importantly, I noticed your latch on your lazarette lid. Did you know, if you get in the lazarette and the lid inadvertently closes, your trapped. Ask me how I know. It happened to me last week, in the boatyard. Rescued in about a minute, after yelling for help and beating. If that happened in my slip I probably would have died. Nobody around. The solution is to switch the latch and clasp around so the latch is on the bottom.
Yea, can’t reach it. I liked the lid advise… I keep one arm out because I get scared diving in, it I could see that happening on a larger boat … scary thought.
Nice, can't wait for thee key west cruising videos! I don't see your dinghy. Do you have it stored somewhere on the boat? I am curious how well that bird poop preventer works.
