Looks like a good tool to have, the more you use it the better it becomes for you. I really enjoyed your demo and use of the app.

Thanks John, really appreciate the feedback. It’s been a real help for us, coming into boating with very little experience. We’ve found it very easy to use and would recommend it to others in the same situation as us!

Great review, and can confirm Savvy Navvy together with Navily were great companion apps which helped us navigate our Croatia sail late October 2022

I'd already been using Navionics for a few years before I tried the one weeks free trial of Savvy Navvy during the Summer. I didn't get on with the display and found it to be 'too many eggs in one basket' for me. I find a combination of Imray charts, tide tables, weather apps and anchor alarms to personally give me a feeling of better security. I tend to plot on paper and then use the app as back up...or visa versa. I also found the app to be unstable and freeze on me. As it was the weeks free trial so maybe not time enough to do it justice. Enjoyed your review though. David.

I agree. It takes a lot of adapting to and has a few quirks. It is a work in progress and their support is very good, but invariably I fall back to Navionics and Predictwind.

Great vid/review, I have used Navionics but prefer the SN interface and bringing together of data etc and downloading weather forecast along with "charts" is a great idea - so thanks, you pretty much confirmed my initial impressions of the app. I'm unlikely to go as far afield as you guys did, happy to poke my nose out of Dartmouth though.

Err... it was a video reviewing the Savvy Navvy App after all. It would have been a bit strange if they had constantly mentioned Google Maps or Tom Tom now wouldn't it. I have Google Maps on my phone and Tom Tom in my car along with the in built Navigation system. Oddly I wasn't looking for a review of either of those when I clicked on this RU-vid video. Dont think my Car Navigation system would be much use 5 miles offshore.

Hi Guys, Good to hear your views and really good presentation of the Savvy Navy and identifying the pro and cons, I agree its a good tool to use for just short journeys but for longer passages the weather and wind direction is never that predictable and this is where I feel the app fails for the longer passages. I'm currently looking to purchase a new inflatable and thinking of the Waveline. I maybe wrong but do you have a waveline would you mind given the pro and cons. There you go yet another video option for the future.Hope your keeping yourselves warm and toasty🥶
@SailingIndiana
@SailingIndiana Год назад
Hey! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the review! We think longer passages are always tricky anyway, app or no app as the weather can change, so many factors which can easily add time to your journey. Ah awesome, yes indeed we do have Waveline! Pros, works really well and perfect size for us. Cons, the handles of the ores seized up (from the salt water) and we have to pry them off. Thanks so much! ☺️☺️
@sailingyachtmagnum
@sailingyachtmagnum Год назад
@@SailingIndiana Thank you for the reply and info regarding the Waveline although not good that the oars seized especially as you would be expected to using it on saltwater, what size inflatable do you have is it the 2.7?
@SailingIndiana

@@sailingyachtmagnum Yes a bit bad seeing as it happened only a few weeks after use🤔 Both sides too! Yes, think it’s the 2.7

Hey guys- hope you don't mind me replying (I work at savvy navvy - so really interested in all the questions and feedback). We've added a second weather source, which while is still a forecast, is the most accurate in the leisure boating world. Meteomatics Mix gives you 26 global weather models and blends them so that you don't have to be a meteorologist and always get the best. It includes EMCWF. It also gives you a 10 day weather forecast rather than 4 which you get with GFS. But as I said, it is still a forecast...

Hi guys, interesting video , you seem quietly confident good on ya , I’m in Chichester marina haven’t used savvy navvy in anger yet but wonder if it could ever be out in proper chartplotter format so you don’t need to use your phone , so easy to plot the route to those of us without sea water running through our veins . Safe boating , regards Cliff
@SailingIndiana
@SailingIndiana Год назад
Hey Cliff! Thanks for this comment! You could get an iPad in a waterproof case perhaps or if you have a chart plotter you can upload the saved routes from the app. We anchored off at East Head in Chichester once which was beautiful. Fair winds, Lauren & Chris☺️⛵️
@alexfuller818
@alexfuller818 Год назад
With regard to the use with your Raymarine Chartplotter have you tried exporting your Savvy Navvy Route to you Raymarine chart plotter? Apparently this is possible and could be quicker than manually doing what you do at 18.25.
@SailingIndiana
@SailingIndiana Год назад
Thanks a good point, it is possible to export the savvy routes to email etc and we could upload them to the plotter from there. We’ve not done many longer passages yet with loads of waypoints, but when we do this could save a lot of time!

hi, nice vid thanks, we sail out of the Tamar in our Konsort, love the south west, which type of membership do you have? Essential. Explore or Elite? Also have you ever used Navionics? which is only £34.99 and gives all the functionality we need, just trying to compare like with like

Unfortunately not as Savvy Navvy is the first one we’ve got. We’ve heard good things about Navionics too, but also the SN has more features like the scheduling feature etc.

I liked the functionality of SavvyNavvy to be very good but the reliability of the download servers and software overall pretty flaky to the point where I switched away in 2022. Is it now stable for use off network?
@davidcusworth5602
@davidcusworth5602 Год назад
Hey Darrell - hope its ok if I reply, I work for savvy navvy so really interested in your feedback. We've been working really hard on off-line charts and stability and are about to launch a new version of the app which addresses those issues. We've also re-vamped the plotting and GPS functions so please do give it another go and let us know what you think.

@@SailingIndiana hey guys - absolutely. When you subscribe we don't work with the really out-dated and costly model where you pay for each region and have to keep buying chart packs (either digitally or on paper). We give you the world in one subscription. So USA, Canada, Baltics, Europem UK, Med, Australia and NZ. Basically all the key cruising and leisure boating areas. And you can use it on 5 devices simultaneously.

@@davidcusworth5602 Does the app integrate into popular chartplotters like Navionics app does to seemly transfer routes between the two? Is this feature in the works with Raymarine?
@davidcusworth5602
@davidcusworth5602 Год назад
@@ylemoine1 not at the moment Yves - although it is something that we are thinking about. We could possible integrate charts but not our functionality as the UI is all driven by the chartplotter itself, which in most cases is not nearly as user friendly as smart phones and tablets.

Just downloaded Savvy Navvy and have to say what a breath of fresh air compared to Navionics I’ve used for years. The autorouting of waypoints is worth the money alone , so much easier. Can’t see me going back.
