Morgan, Moosely and I take you sailing aboard our Gulfstar 40. This video is part 1 of 2, so stay tuned! We don't actually make it to the lakes in this video. We depart Lunenburg and make it to some lovely anchorages. I decided based on the large volume of video I took of the trip that I would split the video up into 2 parts.

Cape Breton author Silver Donald Cameron wrote one of his books about sailing from Cape Breton to Florida. It is called Sailing Away From Winter. In it he states that Lunenburg was the most unwelcoming and most unfriendly stop of the entire trip.

I can't believe people not welcoming you guys into their little cove or to tie up on their dock for the night! You've been to places they couldn't imagine! You could write a movie script and it would be a top box office hit!! I hope people will be more friendly and welcoming to you!

Thanks, Rommee! We just laughed it off. People can be weird and funny sometimes. We do want to respect people's privacy, but trying to block off a whole cove to yourself is a bit over the top.

Sure would help those (like me!) who will sail there soon to SEA where you drop the hook on a chart, which you can show briefly so we can locate the areas.

Shame on the south shore Lunenberg group that were so unhospital to you on your visit there. That was so unfriendly indeed. I am a Cape Bretoner , & that is not characteristic of our province and people . ( but there is no telling of certain little areas I guess.) Not cool at all. You will have better experience as you go north east to Orher coastal areas I am sure. We are welcoming people. Enjoy your trip. & thank you for coming to our play ground . .

Haha you know what's funny? That same thought crossed my mind today. Morgan and I went into town while Moosely explored the marina. I was thinking it would be cool to see the world from Moosely's point of view.

Did you guys have that stainless stemhead assembly made or was it on the boat when you bought it? Mine is the original aluminum casting per all the Gulfstar 40s when originally built and needs to be replaced at some point.

The previous owner had it built. And I don't know from where it came from. He had quite a bit of stainless work done on this boat. Including large backing plates for the cutter stay and on the inside of the starboard, midships locker for increased cabinhouse stability.

@@practicaldreams6377 ya that stem fitting looks really nice. Interesting about starboard midships locker. Can you show what was done there in a future video? Also the backing plate for the cutter stay, would like to see how that was done. Hey also I don't remember if I sent you copies of the original plans, I may have already sent to you.. but if not, I can send to you by email if you want.
