Sailing? Paddling? Duckpunting!

Sailing and paddling a Duckpunt on a variable wind day on Silver Lake. I wanted to show the process of getting the boat from my garage to the water and back, with some sailing thrown in for good measure. The footage was so boring I had to speed it up to make it watchable. The result is debatable. Still, some funny moments!

In addition to the intriguing duck punt, our host Rusty has a remarkable collection of "adventure hardware" packed into his garage bay. Fun video. Excellent soundtrack. Thanks.

I’ve changed some, and added others since then. 😍

Oh man I forgot about duck punts. Gotta build one of those too. I thought you'd put in oars and row for a minute. Good tunes, nice video thanks.

I sure wish some people near me would build some so we could sail together!

Found you from your comment on Norman's post. I watched your Bouncy Day and Pics from Africa videos. You are pretty incredible! Love the music you choose. Great videos! And you knit!!!! My mom taught me to knit when I was young. I love it! My goal this year is to knit a pair of socks for the first time! I'm inspired. Keep up the good work and great videos!

That looks like a Phil Bolger type of sailing dory to me, but I'm new to boat building. What is that hull exactly? Also, your ability to go boating without having to use an automobile to transport your boat is really awesome!

Hi Rusty, nice video. What is the seat that you are using. You seem to have a stiffener with two lengths of cord running through it and a seat draped over it. I was interested for my Duck Punt as I could do with some back support. I agree about the weight of the punt. I am a big guy and I struggle to man handle it.

Funnily enough, it’s just one of the building frames from the original construction. Matches the profile really well. I just drilled four holes and ran some cord through so I can adjust it, and drop the cords over the thole pins I’m using, it puts me in just the right place. 👍

Great video! Thanks for going to the effort of editing and posting. Interested in Duckpunt style sailing, if not precisely going to make one. BTW, is that a Scamp in the garage?!

It was! I sold it a while back. To be honest...I hated it as much as I loved it. I've never been so conflicted about a boat.

Are you aware that you can get a mast extension for the opie rig|? you can raise the boom another 6" or so, makes it much easier, I've done it with mine.

I was not aware. Not sure I’d want to raise the center of effort, though.
