Been on the Waverley (last of the seagoing paddle steamers) a couple of times, once up the Thames through Tower Bridge. Great video guys.

She was in London recently, saw some great photos of her passing under Tower Bridge.

@@sailingmadness We went under the bridge but assumed we could go no further because a tug came out to hold us in position and then we turned around to go under the bridge again. Great experience.

She's still steam powered but no longer coal or oil fired. Gas fired hence the lack of exhaust emissions.

Having used Kip Marina recently, completely agree that the showers are poor. Can highly recommend Tarbert showers.

When you pick moorings at pubs ect,do you contact them first and book ? Asking as we are hopefully heading that way next year.
@sailingmadness
@sailingmadness 11 месяцев назад
Hi Philip, all the moorings we picked up were on a first come first served basis. Some had BACS/PayPal details written on them while others were only payable inside the pub/restaurant. When you get to Scotland pick up a free copy of a magazine called "Welcome Anchorages" this proved to be a very comprehensive and useful guide to all the moorings and anchorages on the West Coast. All the marinas have them in their reception areas, inside the magazine is full of practical information about the most popular anchorages including the colour of visitor mooring balls and payment info.

Lovely videos. I think I want to sail Scotland after retiring. And , I would like to give you my favourite member of your crew. For me it's Jess. The dog, if I spelled the name correctly. The others are great as well. However, I'm a dog person.

you always said that the fuel gauge showed full, so how much fuel did the boat take to fill up at Kip marina

Hello. Do you do your passage planning with a plotted course on a paper chart or do you use a chart plotter at the nav station as well as when you are helming? Cheers. James
@sailingmadness
@sailingmadness 11 месяцев назад
Hi there, I use Navionics on the chart plotter, backed up on 2 iPads and an iPhone. I do also have paper charts on the boat but only use these for reference.

Did you get the fuel gauge sorted out as you were saying it was showing as full after hours of motoring ? and how do you secure your dingy when you go a shore so it's there when you come back to it ? stay safe Richie
@sailingmadness
@sailingmadness 11 месяцев назад
Hi Richie, No the fuel gauge isn't fixed. I'm told it's a common problem with Bavarias. 🙄
