I've found over the past year that there are many different definitions of "sailing," and perhaps even more definitions of what a "sailing channel" should be. There are those who would define them as pure sailing (no background music, no shore adventures, and certainly no kids). Others define it as being on a boat with many bikinis, haha.
I suppose when we say that we love sailing, and that we're a sailing channel, what we really mean is that we love cruising. Cruising, for us, is a life on the water, with sailing as the means of transportation, exploring new places, enjoying beaches, eating new foods, meeting new people, soaking in the sun, and perhaps drinking a bit too much rum. So if that's how you define a "sailing channel," then you've come to the right place.
We're a family of 7, living life aboard our 1983 Vagabond 47.
She was designed by the famous naval architect William Garden, and built in the notorious Taiwanese shipyards of the 70s and 80s. She weighs over 40,000 pounds, and pushes through rough seas like a bully... but that's not why we named her Bully.
Actually, "Bully" is an archaic term used often in old sea shanties, and has a variety of meanings.
Dating back to the 1800s, not only can Bully refer to a sailor who has had a bit too much rum (Bully in the Alley), but it was also used as an adjective -- a term of endearment and fondness towards those you'd find dashing, jovial, and high-spirited (Bully Boys)!
So, who better to sail our Bully Crew around, than SV Bully?
