Installed a new lift pump on our Yanmar SB12 engine.
I learned this past week that our engine was a Yanmar SB12 and not a Yanmar YSB12. 2 different engines. I had seen references to both SB12 and YSB12, but thought they were one in the same. The SB series has a horizontal crankshaft & vertical cylinder (the YSB has the opposite). When I was trying to find a source for the fuel lift pump I asked for a pump for the YSB12 and found out that the YSB12 used an electrical pump and not a mechanical one like ours.

Do you happen to have the part number for the pump? I am in need of one for my SB12 and there seems to be some confusion on the correct part number.

Thanks for getting back. The part listed on your parts list is 124790-52200 (now 52201) which costs over $450. I found this parts list www.lsm-diesel.dk/2012/yanmar/pdf/motordele_sb8-12.pdf, which lists the lift pump as part 105582-52010. This is a much more common part that fits many Yanmar engines and is available from numerous suppliers for about $80. I've got one on order now. If you don't have this parts list, I suggest you find it and save a copy for future reference. It is the most complete one I have ever found. Good luck with your SB12. Mine has been serving me (and two previous owners) well for 40 years.

www.sailingthanksdad.com/documentation/Yanmar_sb8-12_Parts_List.pdf Page 58, Item "3" lists the P/N correctly as 105582-52010. This is the part I bought from a Crowley's Yacht Yard in Chicago for $89.45.

Yep, that's the one I ordered. I found a superb parts list and have reposted it to 1drv.ms/b/s!AiR9KzpBmPls1gU5lrB5Wnh0SNKV . BTW, when bleeding, listen for the "squoit" sound from the injector as you turn the engine over by hand, decompressed. If you hear it, it will run. If you don't, keep bleeding it. Works every time!
