Great video......A cousin of mine, Kenneth McConnell was a lighthouse keeper on Main Duck Island from 1976-1978. I live in Prince Edward County and my family heritage goes back many years here. I've only been out to the island a handful of times and hope to go out again one day soon. Retired now, I am hoping to work on some ideas for mini-documentaries of my family and Prince Edward County and surrounding areas. I subscribed to your channel. Your creativity has given me some ideas. I have a long way to go to edit and produce videos like these. Enjoy your journeys.
Ahoy! Great Footage. Love the drone narratives. Inspiring to myself n others looking to explore lake Ontario n Beyond. Making my way east here first week of August for a couple months so I hope our paths cross. Cheers!!
That island had a casino at some point, rum running, and who knows, the clubhouse on the island was still nice in 94. Also the turquoise waters surrounding yhe island are really something.
Excellent video, and great build up to this island in the previous 2 parts. Now more then ever do I want to visit that island. But the only other video I found on this island, showed a massive amount of snakes. To the point that it really should have been called Snake Island. However no snakes in your video, was it too late in the season for them?
The island was shells rocks and poison Ivy. Very few areas to grow crops. I've been thinking about this. I bet the farmers cleared areas by brushfire the cultivated areas of soil then brought in cattle to fertilize the soil with dung and over many years were able to grow on the island.. I think paddle boarding would fun it was super calm there. It kind of had a menacing feeling when I was there and getting caught in a storm there would be a tough run..
@@sailingEV888 We have a place here in the mountains that just going to gives one a good case of the heebee jeebees. Do not want to be there after dark. I think goats like poison ivy.
I always wondered about that! Can grazing Animals eat poison Ivy? I'm gona look that up right now.. while I have your attention what would you like a video to be about? Any thoughts?
@@sailingEV888 Goats will eat poison oak, no problem. Usually poison ivy takes over in over-grazed areas or scrub-lands. I have a hard time suggesting vidoe topics to channels. I am of the mind-set that the videographer is the most knowledgable. The great lakes are really new to me and there is so much US-Canadian history on them, that I enjoy knowing about the area.
I've enjoyed watching your latest videos Mike. Main Duck Island, Scotch Bonnet, and the areas around Prince Edward Island. Mention of Sandbanks brought some memories back for me! Keep rolling that camera!
Yes you can singlehand the locks. I did the Oswego and the Erie on my own. Peice of cake. I think within years sailing will be fully automated. Sailing EV. Sailboats will need no fuel only sunlight wind and tidal movment. You will be able to go anywhere with no fuel expense. The sailing EV industry is in its infancy. I plan on making this a reality in years to come.
