Awwww the kids!!! What a difference 4 years can make!! I loved watching these older videos! I joined the KYD fam a little over a year ago when my hubby and i got sick of being split up between his deployments when he had to go to trainings. So we decided to get a travel trailer and go too! We are stationed in tx and haven’t gotten to go too many places outside of the state. Being able to physically have a “home” away from home whenever we have to move, and having a lot of fun making memories with our babies is totally the BEST! Thanks to you two and your maxing kiddos for all of your info and advice! It’s helped me so much! Can’t wait to see what other adventures are out there. Maybe Hawaii??
I like this video a lot! I feel like I'm right there with you and the family enjoying the journey. Great energy between you all. Wish you many more fun trips!
I came across this video a couple of weeks ago. I love sailing but I have always had to rely on being invited by others to go sailing. Growing up in Michigan was great for boating! Keep up the great work guys.
Again, VERY funny! I, too, am into sailing and empathize with making sailing mistakes that my fam delights in telling everyone about (when they happen and whenever any subject even slightly related comes up)...e.g. first sailing trip in San Francisco Bay, I didn't bother to research about tides and only brought a battery powered trolling motor. We all frantically paddled to try and enter the bay at Angel Island, tried, tried and tried. And now I'm into RV'ing and really enjoyed your RV vids.
Thanks Glenn. We were in SF last week. Not too many subscribers go back this far! Glad you enjoyed. More sailing vids in the future, but enjoying RVing right now.
Typical California boys, Handsome and a sense of humor. Keep it up through your sailing adventures. Thank you for sharing your life on board your boat. You are about to have one hell-of-a great time filled with all kinds of adventures. San Diego - Blacks Beach rules!
Omg the music is so funny 😂! Going back to watch episodes from the beginning because I never have. I love love all the content but have somehow missed the very first videos.
The RU-vid algorithm is suggesting old videos so thought why not watch, love the end credits particularly “Caleb - hard to tell’ this seems to still rings rather true!
Really great! My family and I have our sights on Mission Bay from the Marriott Marina.....but we are just learning to sail. This video was a lot of fun, Thanks for sharing!
Came back to relive the early days of KYD and i was sitting her thinking WHAT IF...... you should rent a yacht for a season that would great ! or meet up with "Sailing Doodles" your two would do great episodes together !!!
i'm at home watching old KYD episodes while my wife Sue is with our grandson at his house due to school closing due to the coronavirus. This episode was so much fun to watch. You and the kids look so young. At the end of the video, I love the way you gave everyone a job, well almost everyone. Some things never change as with mustache man, Caleb ; )
Job probably wasn’t a good way of describing it. At the end of the video you displayed credit such as captain, director and so on for everyone in the family, It’s cute. I used to do this with my children and grandchildren at the end of videos they’re in. Even though they’re older now, they still get a kick out of seeing their name and title in the credits.
Nice job, guys! I just love your video angles...what lenses are your favorites? I don't get to WiFi much, but when I do, it's great to check in and catch up with you guys!
Where is sailing episode 3? Are you still planning on sailing around the world? Funny / true story, hub and I also learned to sail (certified through ASA 103) with the thought of sailing around world - but sailing is HARD! 10-15kt winds trying to save 'BOB' pretty much scared the pants of me, we also couldn't figure out how life on a boat would be for our two 80lb pupskis (one of them a senior golden who would want to be in the water not watching the water - a familiar story for you I'm sure). A girl can still dream though - there are a lot of global ports I would love to see! We've been binging and enjoying your RV lifestyle now and learning loads - keep 'em coming - thank you so much!
I'm going back to watch old episodes and just saw this one - we were just in Mission Beach (South) and stayed 1 street up from Sara's Mexican that you show in this episode - you didn't say how you liked it, so I'm curious... ???
I love your RV videos, and the quality of production is insane lately. But I found this one via youtube while searching family living on a boat video. It was just a lucky surprise to see a familiar face. And you're brewery meet up today, Is right up my alley... just 2,000 miles away :-( -Insanely jealous of all the quality time you get w/your family.
That is hilarious. You might already know, that we set out to go sailing, but it was taking too long to accomplish so we bought Ginger to speed up the process. KYD will eventually turn into many different adventures in addition to RVing.
+Trio Travels Thanks! Bandcamp is where people can buy the music. I downloaded from either Bandcamp or Soundcloud and then got permission from the artist or copy write holder by email. Then I needed to get Sony and Universal to whitelist the video due to the third song. More effort than I thought. I'll select music very carefully before editing next time, even though this video worked out.
Great video. May be your first charter but you have to start somewhere! Lots of fun to watch all of you on an adventure. Can you tell me what camera you were using? I'm very curious. Keep them coming!
+RF dinesen Thanks for the comment! More than half of the footage is taken with my iPhone 6 (with HD settings updated in the phone camera settings). When we can, we use a DSLR Canon T5i with a Rode mic. The mic has a "dead rabbit" on it to avoid hearing wind when outside. And we put it on a Gorilla pod so it's easy hold steady and carry around. Thanks for the encouragement. We're planning a big summer trip now and will be posting weekly videos - subscribe to watch! :)
The large furry windscreens used by the TV crews in the field are, in fact, called "dead cats". The "dead kitten" moniker was a tongue in cheek name because of the small size. I was a former broadcast engineer years ago (20 years with ABC in San Francisco).
My. Hubby and I met when we both lived in Coronado. Great town. We still live in S.D. But my hubby works in Coronado. He says the same thing...that I spend money over there. He would have made the exact same comment about shopping. BTW...I buy a special Christmas ornament at every place I visit, too.
Keep Your Daydream , I know you had talked about sailing, but did not know you gave it a go. I personally think RV life has more options for a family. I watch the Wynns, great for them, but has limits.
I think sailing can be more dangerous than RVing, Would be afraid of not having enough experience to get out of life threatening situations, and getting boarded and robbed at sea happens in some waters.
What an adorable fam!! I was just trying to find video of the run thru the Mission Bay Channel out to sea, but got sucked in! LOVED your production! (Oh, so was the run thru Mission Bay Channel hairy or not so bad??)
+G .Weber Thanks for your comment! Are you referring to the Jetty into Mission Bay? Not hairy at all. Avoiding the kelp from San Diego took a close eye, but everything went great. And as you know... this was our first real trip!
+Keep Your Daydream ~Yes, the way in to Mission Bay from sea... someone told us he went out with a friend a long time ago and it was terrifying... So I keep trying to find someone navigating it. All I get is the crazy stuff- like hopped up surfers needing rescue or during high seas/storms! And then it DOES look hairy! It's hard to tell if the waves are deflected well enough by the 2 jetties. Since it's an East/West entrance, I'm sure the waves can roll in during high sea! Whereas San Diego Harbor's channel faces North/South with Point Loma acting as a huge, natural barrier to incoming swells. Not to mention it's deeply dredged for all the huge ships. Guess I'll just have to set out and see for myself :) Thanks!
+G .Weber Wow! I'm glad I didn't see those videos before going! At min 7:09... we were in the Mission Jetti. When we entered, there was a 3 foot swell and breaking on the rocks on each side, but nothing to worry about. I could see in a storm with low visibility being scary. In due time! Thanks for watching. We're planning more trips and videos - if you subscribe. :)
Ha. Yeah, it was taking too long to sail so we bought an RV to hurry up the process, but then we liked RVing more than we tought. We're still planning on sailing. Hope you feel better.
+CaptainBobAdventures We joined Lucky Sol Sailing in San Diego. Link in the description. Fractional/membership with access to a 34' & 27' Catalina. Can't say enough great things about the dealio.
@@KeepYourDaydream Yes sir! I only subscribed a couple of weeks ago (sorry I didn't get here sooner) and had some catching up to do. I can now say I have watched every video (some twice) on your channel. I've (we've) enjoyed (👍🏼) every minute, every mile, every town and every country! Thanks for all the work you and your family have put into this adventure! Happy Trails!
