Sails just understand light and physics at a level far beyond anyone else. I have been watching his videos for several years and always come back to see the latest and get inspiration for new ideas - even on things not related to photography. It is just creatively stimulating to see his art burst forth and make you wonder what is next!
I have watched this video several times and the images still continue to blow me away. Have just come back from Angkor and it is indeed as awe inspiring as it looks. But adding a beautiful girl in a stunning white dress creates pure mastery. But I can do that! I have the gear, altho not Hasselblad exactly! But the hardest part is finding a model because the Cambodian girls are very shy. I am going back again in May, although many girls hard to find a girl for this!!

The location of the photography is very beautiful. Not even terrifying. And the preparation of the project and the magnitude of production and effort is not commensurate with the results of images at all

I wonder how it went for you? This video of Sails was shot may years ago and you can clearly see he had permission. From what I have seen, no problem shooting your girl, but when you start hauling in commercial gear then there is a problem. Although OCF creates more drama you need big gear during the day. A lot of the areas are in shade though, but a big soft box is pretty obvious and will draw attention. I have just come back and it was the Water Festival and looks like restrictions were laxed as there were many professional Khmer guys and some with soft boxes doing traditional portraits. However I noticed it was only allowed in the open plain entrance area, not actually within the main Angkor Wat complex. Just as an observer I was able to steal some stunning shots of young girls posing with Angkor Wat architecture. And to pull it off you need, hair, makeup, and dress, no small feat also. That said you can create really stunning images with OCF even with cheap gear.
