It must have been a heavenly feeling when you were an airborne alone behind enemy lines and you meet an ally. Especially if it's Lt. Winters or Lt. Speirs.
Calm air at 5am.... not bad for jumping. The sicily jump had em spread into solo fights. But the open terrain of South France put Americans together in support of each other. And on the first day. not many would be taken prisoner. It was ambush and move. Find others from the stick and move to the meet up point. Three paratroopers by this point in the war would be a true challenge for any german squad looking for them.
+Wilco van den Boogaard I think you're correct. Looked like a M1 Garand upon landing, then M1 Carbine during the chase then back to a Garand at the tree.
Those guys were badass mother fuckers! In some deep dark place within myself, as a child, I wanted to be one of those guys. I still do. They will forever be remembered as....well.... Badass Mother Fuckers!
As someone who has multiple siblings in both the marines and the army... active service members have told me this is false and that Bravo is the proper phonetic. I would like to know your sources. My sources are currently in Jordan being fucking shot at.
@@user-xj2sm3xd5l Bravo is NOW the proper phonetic. It used to be different. Bravo is from the now standard NATO alphabet, which wasn't a thing until the mid-late 50s.
Paratroopers were issued M1 Carbine, chambered in .30 carbine. Not realistic to show a paratrooper with a Garand. The Carbine weighs three pounds, the Garand nine. Also the Carbine used a 10 round mag vs. the Garand's 8-round clips.
@@brooksbanker549 A lot of WWII paratroopers jumped with a Garand. The 30-06's range and firepower over the .30 cal was a good enough reason to jump with the bulkier gun.
Airborne all the way! Never heard of this movie before. But certainly not bad at all. The 517th is also not strange to me. They also did a great job during The Battle of the Bulge at the Belgian Ardennes Ww2. Pfc Melvin Biddle, 517th RCT got awarded with the Medal of Honour.
the director of hths movie must have stooded History in Holywood i mean the idea and graphics, weapons are good but that killing 100 germans with losing no man is just awful content
''When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: The people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous, and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil.'' -Marcus Aurelius, said that in 121 AD ''There Are None Closer, to the Author of Sacrifice Himself... Than Those Who Chose, to perform it for The Sake of Others.'' - I, Former Sgt. Gilpin 82nd Abn. Inf. said that on 8719
I've seen this movie. It was supposed to be about the Malmedy Massacre. Some research they did making this turkey. The shoulderpatches said they were 101st, but the 101st. was no where near Malmedy that day. It was a company of 285th Field Artillery Observation Battalion taken prisoners whereas 84 of them were murdered in cold blood by Peiper's SS gangsters. And Peiper almost got away with it, until justice caught up with him in -76. He was cremated alive in his own house, in France. Revenge is a dish best served cold. I hope he's till burning, in hell.
Perang hanyalah akan menyisakan penderitaan dendam bahkan kerugian di berbagai hal. Gara gara perang banyak perempuan menjadi janda & anak-anak menjadi yatim. Salam Indonesia damai
As soon as the first guy lands he gets his M1 Garand out. Then he is discovered and runs, at 1:57 he shoots back at the Germans with a M1 Carbine. few seconds later he gets behind the tree for cover and has a M1 Garand...oops
If your parachute lodges in a treetop you're going to want to use that rope to climb down. I mean, you CAN hit the quick release on your parachute harness but as my lieutenant once put it, it will lead to a suboptimal result.
Never made it past "it's purpose was to reclaim southern France." There very well may have been an operation by that name, but this is totally fiction, and still horrible.
