The last dlc that was supposed to come out for sr3 was called "enter the dominatrix". That dlc was cancelled and was decided to be fleshed out and put into SR4 around the time THQ started dying. That big red eyed Saints flow mascot was part of the images that were released way back when that dlc was announced.
2013 is the best year ever. -GTA V comes out -PS4 comes out -watch dogs comes out -SR4 comes out -I graduate from school to play full 4months of gaming.
the difference between this and ODST is that ODST is a DLC pack released as a full game , while Enter the Dominatrix was canned so that it can be A PART (not the only thing) of the game

You hit the nail on the head, because its was originally a DLC, they wouldnt make an entirely new engine for a DLC and since they were already mid way through the creation of the DLC they decided to make another full game. It looks the same because down to its base level it is the same game.

But theyre right, they were just gonna release enter the dominatrix as regular dlc (intially some april fools joke) then they made an announcement that it got cancelled because they were making enter the dominatrix a full saints row dlc Thats why you see everyone flying, punching super strong, etc. because it was all about super powers and thats why it looks like the same exact environment
Yes it is. Saints Row The Third was the game that made the Saints Row franchise a completely unique and over-the-top experience. SR4 looks just like SR3, but even more crazy.
Ever since Rockstar threw the sandbox aspect out of the picture with GTA IV, I've had plenty of fun with Saints Row 3 and IV. They take the outlandish fun and humor to new extremes. Something that I appreciate.
because that's what it is. thq intended for it to be dlc, then they decided to sell it as a full game because they desperately needed money, but they liquidated before release. now deep silver have it and are releasing it as intended.
Here's the thing though. The reason we want "realism and gangster feel" is because that's what was in the first two games. What we REALLY want is the story that we had. We want (spoiler alert) Johnny Gat to have had a death scene that actually mattered rather than him dying off-screen and rarely if ever getting mentioned again. We want to know what happens with Dex. There are a LOT of questions that are being left unanswered, and I'm sure that THAT is why a lot of us are unhappy.
I liked Saints Row 3, but I had really hope they would give you the option in game of going either the hardcore gangster route or the more glamorous commercial route. It would make things much more interesting and satisfy more people. What do you guys think?

You are right since it was suppost to be "enter the dominatrix" dlc for 3rd but somebody came and sad that it's soo much great that it needs more time and money and can be epic.
it was originally going to be a DLC but they changed their minds, ah well as long as I can get roughly 15-20 hours (maybe more) main story play through I'm happy.
Well something did make me happy. Apparently the gangs from Saints Row 1-3 are making a comeback in the virtual reality. I just hope Troy Bradshaw and Dex make a reappearance as they were just left out of the 3rd game.
The graphics are same аs in Saints Row 3 but i think that the gameplay will be awesome with all these superpowers.I hope the missions will be intersting.
Because Saints Row IV was originally a DLC for Saints Row 3 but they ran out of time to finish it so they fleshed it out into a full game. Just because it uses the same engine doesn't mean it wont be great. Other games look exactly the same as each other and were still great e.g. Assassin's Creed 2 - Assassins Creed Brotherhood or Gears of War Series.
You really think that's how it happened. At the time THQ were struggling badly, Selling it as a full game would get them much more money. So they announced as a full game then went bankrupt and shut down, now obviously Deep Silver are still going to sell this expansion as a full sequel.
it's like this because the boss (the united states president) was transported into a virtual world which gave him and his friends superpowers and they're versing their greatest fears and since in's virtual there's a slight chance everyone that was in the past saints rows are going to be in saints row 4 Aisha,Carlos,Julius,Lin,Carlos maybe even Johnny :)
you dont understand .... Saints row 2 was more than just a GTA clone it became a thing of its own ... everything was perfect and right in that game , bad ass moments , over the top moments , the gangs were great , the fact it had a Co-Op campaign really helped as well , and then came SR 3 ... the biggest problem was that it was all over the top , but they didnt know what to do with it and they ran out of ideas, just look half the missions were side missions which compared to SR2 werent even good

i was hopping when i heard this was coming out that it would be for next gen, not some rehashed version of saints 3. the engine looks exactly the same.
This is as much of a sequal as MW3 was for MW2. GTA V is, for example, the result of a game that has been in production for over 4 years. This game has barely been in production in 1.5 years, and even worse, this game was even ment to be a DLC for Saints row 3, so everything is going to look pretty much the same.
Looks a lot more like a DLC than an actually new game. I mean, have they changed any of the textures at all? It can be hard to tell by this trailer, we'll have to wait for a gameplay trailer to judge better...

my guess is that you get the powers near the end of the game. it wouldnt make sense to give you superpowers right off the bat. Conclusion: it should be the saints row we all know and love but will get even more crazy near the end of the game.
They could've made SR be a gritty series. But instead, they decide to say fuck everything and make the craziest shit they can think of. I'm not mad, but I wonder if we will ever see a Open World game like what SR could've been.
And this is a bad thing? It is an aesthetic that suits them. As for the content... That is where they shine. Make a more fluid game with an aesthetic we already love. That is likely a good reason for keeping the look. Also if you can super leap like that, I'm sure it will be a large hit on an average computer's performance.
I can't wait for the game, I'm looking forward to all the new cars and weapons. Who knows there'll be more weapons. You can't predict an entire game with only a 2 minutes long teaser showing only brief moments of gameplay that might be only parts of the story.
I have faith in deep silver. honestly, all that they need to make an amazing game here is take saints row 3, and give it more activities and a better storyline. The thing about SR3 was that it was really stupid (in a good way), but had an extreme lack of suspense and badass. I'm sure they'll be able to fix that in SR4. I think they probably learned their lesson.
completely agree, saints row 2 was a hell of a lot better than saints row 3. all they had to do was add even more customization and a good story and they fucked it up so bad
Saints Row is known to be unrealistically stupid. If you don't like their turn from gang wars to futuristic aircrafts to zombies to superpowers and robots, then go play GTA.
Saints Row tried to get into the GTA market but lost, so it morphed and embraced the craziness that it has become. It's suppose to look crazy and out of control, and since it is a Current-Gen game, I doubt they could have made it better looking,
The only reason this comes out in august is to get sales from people waiting for gta. It just shows that the developers dont actually want to make a decent game, just a quick buck.
i know the graphics are nice but i meant that the graphics are kinda identicle to the graphics in saint's row the third. who knows? maybe the gameplay in the trailer are from saint's row the third and the engine for saint's row IV is not ready to show it's graphics
Why even compare Saints Row with GTA? Just because they're free roamers where you can kill and steal doesn't mean you can compare them like that. GTA is more focused on realism while Saints Row is more focused on over the top fucking around in a city. Both games have their fans. Some people want the realism aspects that GTA has and other want to have the over the top stuff that Saints Row has to offer....
