It’s been nine long years since we’ve had a new Saints Row and after playing it for the review we’re wondering… maybe it should have stayed in the oven a little longer. Saints Row is still the gun-happy, violent, crime-riddled explosion-fest you expect it to be, but… is that enough? I dont know if you mention it later in the video or if it is a thing later in the game ( doubt it ) but i am really confused as to why, 1: you can't rob stores even though robbing a loan office is 1 of the first things you do, 2: we have to blow up armored trucks for the cash inside, 3: theres no way to eat food or have a cutscene eating food before leaving the negative reviews at the gang controlled restaurants. All the cool places and theres little to no interactivity. The combat can be great too but each weapon has crippling downsides and even after turning off aim assist you can't fully turn off the lock on and i find that in combat the reticle gets unpredictable and jarring as i get close to a target quite a bit which wouldnt be a huge deal if it wasnt so fast paced with such a strange approach to healing. It's not overly difficult it just deflates some of the fun

What the hell happened to XPlay? Back in its heyday Sessler/Webb would have ripped this fucking game apart. Like I know its subjective if you like it, fine, but at the very least this game worthy of heavy ridicule considering the dialogue alone, which is what XPlay used to be centered around. The insults they'd use to shit on games was legendary. I can still remember Sessler saying about some game once that "he's had more fun with his testicles in a cheese grater." It's astounding people can say this feels like old XPlay, when old XPlay wasn't afraid to lay into shit and have an edge to it. That was literally their schtick: "Brutally honest reviews" And when almost everyone is unanimously calling this game out for being cringey, I'd expect XPlay of all places to be the first ones to lay into it.

Saints 1 was one of the best games on the 360 in 2006. It captured that gang lifestyle and turned it into a scarface like experience. You needed a certain level of rep from activities and fashion choices in order to complete the main missions. Its pretty weird to me to just abandon stillwater and those characters for this.

Problem is if you look at it like GTA or something with top notch quality then you will be disappointed. If you just come into it looking for a fun time with a quirky world then this game is pretty fun. Is it the greatest gameplay ever, or best looking game? No of course not. But I’m having fun screwing around, doing goofy missions and flying around in the wing suit.

Thanks a lot for the upload. It really sucks to say that this is exactly the kind of thing I was worried about. I guess I’ll be waiting for when this one hits the bargain bin in a few years before I give it a shot. Customization looks great but that can’t be everything.

I don't know man that customization looks worse than Saints Row 2 you had the ability to pick your fighting style each fighting style had two or three animations plus two different melee swings and did I mention you could do them whenever you want you would even change your walking Style pick up almost everything you see a beer bottle pick it up and use it you can even order food and hold it in your pockets and eat it when you need it I'm just saying Saints Row 2 had so many new never before seen features and this reboot barely has anything interesting but I do agree you should get it like at 20 or $13

It's it odd to say, I feel every Saint row does alot of what was disliked? They all had annoying side missions that you had to do to progress in the main game. If you didn't fill your respect you couldn't continue main missions, especially in the first one. They all had over aggressive enemies and some would appear right in front of you. Just my opinion. They all did that and I still liked them all even 4.

I agree, I think the only difference now is that the game is horrendously buggy along with the much higher standards and different expectations of open world games compared to when the original series came out. Which is probably why reviews are much lower.

I think volition should've stuck with what they had with the previous saints games and just build on top of what they had. The online aspect is the thing that needed improvement. If they could bring the online on par with how GTA does it, then everything would be golden.

I'm playing on a series x. I've had a number of hard crashes. Hard locks in wardrobe. And glitches with no guns in my hands, enemies either not spawning or spawning in weird unreachable spots. 4k mode is really really bad, graphics severely degraded and frame rate is like 30 or sub 30.

Nah bro it was only a parody when it came to the side activity. But the story was always serious , especially with SR2. Gat buried a man alive at his gf funeral. Wheres the joke? It didn’t really become a parody until SR3 because they became celebrities. Notice how after Gat died the tone of the game changed forever. AM playing Saints Row on PS4. Not liking the "Bugs", Especially 'BUG' that makes it so can't attack/ interact with ANYTHING! 20+ hours in playtime, Next mission is #5, 2 missions away from 'losing "playa" starting job'. Doing a lot of side junk (taking pics, finding *pallets, getting stuff unlocked, wing-suit launching, shopping). I am having Fun. But when i go to do something "that should be in SR game" and it's not in SR-2022. Like "mugging a person", "holding up a store", "taking a human-shield", "Tossing people [for stars & XP]" or "hostage/car jacking". WELL can't do Mugging, So Boss got to Kill them, to get the cash! Car combat is Toon-Time, Unreal-/-fun. SRreboot "a Motorbike Can push truck off the road and into the air!" WTF! (okay it's just SR.) Toon-town-party! I miss SR1 'breaking into store' & opening the safe, then get the "goodZ" into the car, driving to the Fence. Hope there a SR-reboot-II with a lot of SR1 stuff added into the game! ----To Volition--- WTF and WHY??? is it that, doing SIDEZ to unlock Story Missions??? WTF, WHY? Why do this? No SR game had this before!! Why Now?? That's just F-F-F-ED! ----To Volition--- P.S. PLS add More mission TO THIS GAME. P.S. am a fan of SR1 and SR2. SR3 is ok story, love the sides of SR3. It's sad but also funny. Saints Row's death pretty much mirrored G4TV's. Try to do something new, fans don't like it, instead of taking the criticism, call them ists and phobes, then go broke. Volitions made some great games at one point.

The aiming is horrible, the driving is god awful. And so far the dialogue is cringy as F. Look I get it it’s a game, but “gangsters” being represented by these ppl is sad. You can customize your boss, why oh why!!!!!!! Can you not change the three other ppl in your gang. Idk so far I’ve played about 5 hours and I just don’t want to go back.
