That's genius. It won't matter to fighting game veterans much but it'll definitely help newer players remember which is which when they're trying it out for the first time.
While this isn't my genre of choice. They nailed the character aesthetics. For character's like these they look really well designed and seemingly represent their movesets well.
TFW you notice the game's tracking how often you fail at which steps in the combo. Hot damn that's not a feature I would have thought as valuable as I think now that I've seen it in action.
Man the speed at which you pick up these complex combos is amazing. I’m just getting started playing fighting games so give me oh another year to catch up lol
You briefly touched on it, but learning tutorial combos isn't really for learning the combo itself moreso than it is getting into combo theory and learning what works and "how a character feels", it gives you an idea of how you can utilize their given tools to get damage or advantage. Although nowadays, other people usually do all the labwork and then let everyone else know about it so its not as important but still good for new players to know about, especially if they're looking to play competitively.
I agree, it's definitely important for new players to understand their characters combo theory and why their stuff works. Thinking like that can make other characters in other games easier to pick up too
I like listening to him talk about fighting games. I'm still really damn new to the whole scene and a bad habit of mine is getting so into my own head about combos like "man I gotta learn all these combos" but then points to a simple one and just says "this can be your combo" and I'm like "so I can just learn one for now... oh... I guess that's easier yeah..." I dunno', maybe I'm making no sense but like... it was just nice to hear.
Yea you just want a bread and butter to use. Once that combo is in grained in your muscle memory. Ie you can do it in a fight without thinking (on both sides) just increase the difficulty of your combo/combo's overtime. You will be doing the hard ones in no time. Fg's are a marathon not a sprint.
nah just learn a couple utility combos. depending on the game : one that carries to the corner, one that knockdowns, one that sideswitches....stuff like this. Its even usually the same startup you just end your combo differently depending on the purpose. You focus on learning how to create occasions to deal damage, how to work your way to corner the opponent, how to deal with certain situations...thats what its about. Combos are just a tool. After you get a decent level at your 1st fighting game, you learn very easily all the other games.
I find learning neutral and general gameplays or setups infinitely more interesting. Combos are those flashy hurdles people think they need to know when in reality they are the last things you should be thinking about. They're payoffs for a well played neutral.
@@thePANDEMlC I agree half way. Neutral is important. But if you cannot out damage you opponent or miss opportunities for the free stuff (I'm thinking ch's specifically and speaking from tekken experience) you can and probably will lose to an opponent of equal strength. Especially if they at least know some basic combos. Knowing how to deal damage is equally important. Neither should be neglected for the other.
I know this is a segment from your stream but I would of liked to of heard more of the thought process of why you picked that character, and how you pick characters in general
after I learn a combo I just feel it while saying 'blop blop blop ... blop blop blop..' in my head. It just becomes a thing. Just need to put the practice in.
And the best part is that is an *_ungulate_* fighter, comprised of hoofed animals, so think of the character variety! We’re already getting a goat character, but there are other selections like pigs, moose, buffalos, giraffes, tapirs, hippos, rhinos, camels, BISON (😉), and any other four-legged hoofed animal out there in nature! It’s not strictly about ponies and horses, just so you know! *”If it’s on FOUR LEGS, then prepare to BEG. If it’s got HOOVES, then make your MOVE.”*
And it's not only hooved animals that are out in nature either: supernatural ones are fair game as well-we already have a longma after all. Off the top of my head, they could include a kelpie, kirin, or pegasus. There are likely more creatures that aren't well known as well: no one comes in knowing what a longma is.
TheAmberFang I agree, we shouldn’t rule out the supernatural/mythical ones either. For instance, we already have Oleander who’s a unicorn, but what about a predator character who’s a bicorn or a chichevache? That could be an interesting design
I'm impressed he found the character that clicked with him so fast. It's not like a grappler player that looks for the big slow character and they usually guess right.
Too be fair I heard this game was going to be a ‘My little pony’ fighting game but they ran into trouble getting the rights. But yeah basically the only reason this is getting buzz it’s a unique fighting game with great netcode

If you are referring to fight of animals sure, but this game was made by fighting game developer veterans. Sure its ponies and cartoony AF but this game is so sick if you just like good fighting games and don't get hung up on the visuals
