@@evaschipper8494 In our culture in Estonia we have a day called Soul day. Its similar to what Catholics have but with a different purpose. We dont pray for people who have passed and are in purgatory. We light candles in our houses at night and dont use lights. I think the point of this was to guide our ancestors back home, the candle light is like a beacon in order for them to find their way back to us.

Not to be rude or anything but since you have Nigerian ancestry you are culturally very far away from South Africa. It's like someone with Spanish ancestry learning about Finland, same continent yes but totally unrelated to your respective ancestry.

@Gavin Walcott funny thing is, I'm actually from Cape Town and already I almost have no linguistic or racial similarities to those living in the north of South Africa so imagine speaking about a whole ass continent that is culturally uniform. Yes there are regional similarities, it is bound to be by logic but otherwise the similarity ends there. If a Zulu person ever met a Yoruba person they'd immediately recognize that they are different from each other, only sharing skin colour and nothing else. I just hate that people assume Africa is one big village with starving black children when it clearly isn't. Listen man, I have met friends from around Africa like Angola, DRC, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Somalia and all of them did not experience this African unity you talk about. I'm sure you know that South Africa is a pretty xenophobic place, why do think it is so? That's because native blacks recognize the difference in other black people from Africa and somehow get offended at the fact they are living in a different country, "their" country. Pan Africanism, how ever good its intentions, is nothing but a farce. When you have the most genetically diverse continent in the world, uniformity is the last thing you can think about.
