Ah yes you really should! Have you seen the video about Boavista as well? Cape Verde was truly a pleasant surprise for us travellers. Especially when you have roots there you’ll love it! We are actually going back to Africa in the next 10 videos or so, as well. Hope you stay tuned and for sure go there some day!
Haha thanks Philip! Did you see the other videos after Sal? We traveled the world last year and are still on the way in Africa, after videos in the Caribbean, North America, South America, Asia and Australia! Cheers and welcome 😁🤙🏻
Thank you nice music , I was there Sal island , couple of week ago … superb country !!!!!! I didnt know port Antiguo had such nice flats … I was not far from … passing in front of them …very nice fish plate out there …. Friendly overall atmosphere …
As an African myself i was totally inside box i didn t know about this beautiful country. thanks to AFCON, even though we beat you guy's but we still brother's i will visit this place for now own.❤
@@WoutoftheWorld yes I'm from S.A, and thanks to hear that your mom she from this side, as my commander in chief CIC Malema always said we're one family from one house just living in different room's, so yes jast waiting one of the toughest match against "super eagle's"
Sal really surprised us. Because some other islands are greener and have more mountains, people tend to say Sal is a bit boring. Actually, the nature is pretty unique and on top of that the atmosphere makes up for the lack of green. Such a great vibe 😁 ben je Nederlands trouwens? Ik lees nu je naam 😂 We hebben de video’s in twee talen. Groetjes!
This video is amazing, thank you for sharing! Hoping to visit Sal next year! What time of year did you visit Sal? And is there a time of year that is best to visit?
Hi! Thanks. Pretty much every season is good, but if you need wind for any kind of surfing: from christmas til early summer. The summer and after is hotter with less wind.
That’s great! Hope you can use some of the recommendations. We are still on this trip, traveling the whole year. If you have other destinations, have a look 😁👍🏻 cheers and have fun on Sal!
@@WoutoftheWorld will be watching the Boa Vista video. I'm from the UK. Because of Brexit we rotate Tenerife, Croatia, Tenerife and now Sal/Boa Vista every 90 days. Cape Verde will be our destination each year around Xmas. Hope the rest of your trip goes well! I've shared the link to a few people.
Just found your channel and really like your videos!!! As said on previous video, just been in Sal last week and was amazing! However, I can notice when you went, was a bit less wind! Anyway, the experience was fantastic! :)
Hi Jim! Thanks for the support and nice comment. The wind can be strong indeed, some places more than others. Have you visited other islands as well in CV? We are thinking about going back soon! 😁👍🏻
@@WoutoftheWorld sorry, I just got a notification of your reply now! 🙈🤪 no, only been in Sal! The idea was to go to BoaVista too but, probably because it winter time, ferry connection between islands was very poor. I’ll come back soon to Cabo Verde that’s for sure, would love to go to Mindelo too in São Vicente island. Cesária Évora was from there and that’s where you can find more bohemian and culture of the country. Keep doing great on your channel! ✌️
Thanks! We love your warm welcome and support 😁👍🏻 cheers from the family and hope you’ll enjoy other videos too as we keep visiting new destinations every week! 🙏🏻
Thuis july i am going to exact same place, i am born in Cape Verde santo antao but i live in the netherlands. Thnx for visiting our beautyfull country😊
This is one of the best video I have seen on you tube so far about this island : SAL ….thank you so much ! is reflecting very well the overall impression , you forgot to show those “friendly “ dogs walking here and there asking waiting some food … … they could be counted as part of the human population somehow … …😊😊
Thanks for the big compliment! We were very surprised by Sal too. The video turned out quite well I guess. We'll go back for sure. It's not too far and easy to visit. Cheers from us! 😄🤙🏻
@@WoutoftheWorld thank you so much again , i will share the video with several contacts is the best one ….I will go back soon as well for sure , btw I have been invited in Oman nice location apparently …. Take care of you guys ….you are a beautiful family 🙏🏽…
Thanks Paul. Sal is great and we hope to return again. Also to check out some other islands of Cape Verde. Did you find the episode about Boa Vista? Cheers 😁👍🏻
In Sal is it all safe? Do I need to go all inclusive and stay in a hotel or is it cheaper to go to local restaurants etc. is it safe to walk streets at night for example?
It is so safe! We walked around with our small boy as you can see. I really didn’t like to go for all inclusive here, as the streets and the restaurants are so nice and friendly. We did not experience any unsafety and as you will see in the other episode about Boavista we also visited the slums there. 🙏🏻❤️
Hi Matthew, no they are Lemon sharks, but indeed not harmful. It’s a pretty popular place where you can spot them easily. They aren’t that big, but they are very curious!
Cape Verde has some of the most beautiful music a country has ever produced, it's a pity that you didnt notice it and/or chose to have generic light music as background. Otherwise good video 👍
Hi Subtle Moments, we know about Cape Verde music of course. However, you cannot use music without getting copyright issues. There is no Cape Verde music available for free use, like.. at all. So yes of course we did notice (I live in Rotterdam, a city with lots of people from Cape Verde) and no we didn’t chose not to use any.. it’s just how the world is. 😂
Hi Mark! Just outside the first resort was a big playground. The tours we did by car were also very child proof. Our son loved Cape Verde a lot and still talks about it. We are now still traveling, from Philippines back to Africa at the moment! 😁👍🏻
I was on holiday in Sal for 3 weeks last year. I must honestly say that it was a bit disappointing. It is a very impoverished and dirty islandwith a lot of ruins. (except for the resort part in Santa Maria). It's a shame that hardly any travel vlogs shows about this reality . The Cape Verdeans are very nice people, but everyone there sees you as a walking wallet. You cannot take a step on the beach, walk through Santa Maria in the evening or when visiting Shark Bay for example, or you will be constantly bothered by pushy street vendors. I save hard all year round to be able to go on holiday and I want to have moments of peace. No more Sal for us and I heard from many fellow travelers that they also found it very disappointing. I am sure that the number of returning travelers to Sal is practically zero. We normally always go on holidays to the Caribbean (Curacao and Bonaire) and will continue to do so from now on. pros Sal: very nice people Shark Bay pronto beach street dogs are very lovely negative: not the best food and yes we tried a lot of restaurants pushy street vendors many ruins and other signs of poverty little to do beach looks more beautiful on the vlogs than in reality almost no opportunities for snorkeling, the current is to strong and the view is bad
Hi JW! I can imagine your opinion about Sal, however I am not that negative about Cape Verde. Having been to so many countries, I understand that there is a big difference between rich tourism countries and plain third world countries. We love to travel Africa, India or South America too, but you should never expect it to be only suited for tourism. The countries are raw and real. For me that’s actually one of the most beautiful things to see when we are traveling. I think Sal might not be suited for the tourism that Bonaire and Curacao have, that’s true. Although I used to live on Curacao and can tell you that most of Curacao will be like Sal too, but you just don’t go there. Tourism is more seperated from the harsh reality of poverty. I do understand your view, but for us the world is always a positive place. The video is quite neutral actually, but you don’t go out and film garbage or poverty in Africa.. you know that it’s there, but the video is not about that 😅 cheers and love from the family!
That’s true and tourism is the biggest source of income.. you have the big companies like TUI, but like us, I recommend supporting the locals! Like our local rental company, the hotels where the locals work and exploring the island. 😀👍🏻
That’s true and tourism is the biggest source of income.. you have the big companies like TUI, but like us, I recommend supporting the locals! Like our local rental company, the hotels where the locals work, we use all local stores and restaurants and explore the entire island. 😀👍🏻
hi, i got food poisoning here on sal.. flies all over food.. made me soil the bed every night for two weeks and had to pay servant money to clean sheets every day... one night was so bad i leave the room naked on my hands and knees, stomach in agony, and arrested and go to police station with diharrea all over me. worst holiday
@@WoutoftheWorld yes. Cape Verde Islands are 500 km in Front of Senegal in middle of thecatlantic ocean.. these islands have nothing to do with Africa . They are an independent republic with their own government .!☝😄 It is based on Portugal. Since 1995. they are independent . Before that, Cape Verde was a former colony of Portugal. ☝☝ I always stay in Sal from November until may 😎
@@christianlaewe5895 it seems like you missed the part that Africa is a continent. Every country in Africa has their own government right? I appreciate when somebody corrects me when I’m wrong, but I simply don’t get it 😅 Cape Verde is Africa as much as all other 53 African countries.. let’s just leave it at that 😁👍🏻
