Salar de Uyuni - Uyuni Salt Flat - Siloli Desert
Bolivia's "Salar de Uyuni" is the world's largest salt flat,
covering 10500 square km, containing over 10 billion tonnes of salt.
Small group tours (normally 1-2 cars, 5 people per car) are the most popular and best way to visit. Tours include basic lodging and meals and range from $100 to $400 pp for 3 days. Honestly, every tour is the same. It's best to wait until you are in Uyuni and book a last minute tour there for the best deal.
We paid about $150 each (early December 2023), including transfer to Chile.
Here, we share our 3 day 2 night tour of the salt flat and the surrounding desert, traveling in elevations from 3500 to nearly 5000 meters above sea level. Definitely bring some coca leaves or coca tea to help with altitude sickness.
