Salary and Cost of Living in Prague and Brno 2019

At the end of 2018, we interviewed expats with jobs in Prague and Brno. Coming from different backgrounds, they share their experiences and opinions - we interviewed them on how their salary is like, and how they feel about their current job.
They also compared their living standards to their wages, and the average wages in the Czech Republic. Only about 1/3 of the population earn more than the average wage amount. This indicator does not perfectly reflect the population’s living standards.
Relocation experts also gave their advice for people who are thinking to move to the Czech Republic, and how to do it smoothly with as little trouble as possible.
We also get an overview of what the Czech labor market looks like, as well as the Czech real estate situation - with helpful advice from experts.

Average salaries are not able to provide a decent living in Prague. Please check very carefully before moving, otherwise you will end up with spending your entire salary only on rent, bills and barely nothing else...

thanks for the helpful video. can you also do a video explaining how to move to Prague with dependants (spouse and kids) and if the spouse's are eligible to work?

There's blank space in legislation for foreigners working here. Your children won't have access to free universal healthcare until you work here for more than 3 or 5 years I'm not sure. So you have to pay private healthcare for some time. Hope it'll change in the future.

All the accommodations and cost of life Rose because of the foreigners and Outsiders were coming and artificially increased the value of our real estates.

Yes, that's probably one of the reasons. I am not saying we should ban them, but maybe this moving to "cheap country" should be regulated somehow, Praguce center is full of foreigners with foreign salaries so owners of apartments don't have to care about native people with their little salaries.

I'm thinking of moving to Brno as an Erasmus student for a semester. Is 300 euros per month enough, considering living in a dormitory ?
@JobspinCz
@JobspinCz 5 лет назад
Hello, thank you for watching the video and your question! Depending on the dormitory, at most you would have to spend 155 euros for rent. This is already inclusive of energies and internet. With the rest of your money, you can allocate between groceries and living costs (going out to restaurants/cafes, etc). Depending on your living standard, you would be able to live comfortably. Of course, you would have to take into account as well the transportation costs - a public transport pass would cost 30 euros with student proof (ISIC), and this would be valid for 3 months. Without the transportation pass, a ticket valid for 15 minutes is around 1 euro! - Anjanette from Jobspin team

The housing is much more expensive, I also had no idea till i started looking for apartments in Prague and got shocked by the prices lol, its crazy.. A simple studio in a nice neighborhood for 500€ is crazy...I have no idea how people can affrod to live there to be honest.

@@ludwigvonn9889 rent prices went down like 20-30% after the covid. Also if you live alone its not bad if you have at least median Prague salary (38k CZK) otherwise its not that good. Its best if you are a couple and you can share the rent with other person.

Hi Aliza, thank you for watching the video and reaching out to us! Even if you don't speak Czech, you can easily find a job in the Czech Republic with your language skills. Plenty of companies hire international and multilingual foreigners, and Spanish is one of the languages which are in high demand! Best Regards, Anjanette of Jobspin

you must know about the Czech Republic that you may be perjury convicted, without being able to defend yourself in court without knowing that there is a lawsuit against you. You will find out about the court decision, with a sentence "without the possibility of appeal", when your bank accounts are blocked and you will receive a decision on the execution of your sentence. Anything on the current state of justice and law in the Czech Republic cannot be changed, as it would be punished by the European Union as a violation of the rule of law. This is my own experience from 2018 in the Czech Republic.😀👍

Every school or hospital is good or bad whether it is private or state owned, you just need to find good ones. But dont worry, since most hospitals are state owned you wont get scammed like in US where they do nasty things to make you pay more. You wont also get to hospital looking like in Africa, everywhere should be good treatment and my answer there are good and bad is just mostly about staff. If you want to know something else ask me.
