this was beautiful filming..how eerie and i assume there aren't any bodies anymore after 30+ years. Amazing also to see the cassette player boombox indicative of that era... my era! the 1980s.. lol. a horrifying thing to imagine drowning on a ship that sinks so fast.. it doesn't look too deep either.. after the tiger shark attack that killed 23 year old Vladimir Popov on June 8th, 2023 at the beach in Hurghada, i am now terrified to go swimming there.. and i live in Florida, USA. Supposedly we are the shark bite capital of the world...
hello! i dove at salem express once, my captian was actually very superstitious about anchoring close to the wreck, so we were the only boat that anchored further from it and had ot take zodiac to the spot. It was very eerie and very emotional, i didnt dare to penetrate that deep into the ship, be it out of fear and out of respect aswell. however, to anwser your question - yes, no all bodies were recovered due to the complexity and size of ship i assume+not enough people that are capable enough to dive in overhead environment? Leader of my dive club is a really skilled cave diver and tech diver, and he wanted to check out passenger cabins and claimed to see some remains vaguely, however that might be tall tale, ill let you decide wether to believe him or no :D However, i do believe his version. And it is approx in 30metres underwater, which is around 100 feet :) (sorry if my english is clunky, not my first language)
As the Salem express is declared as a grave there are still lots in bodies (bones) inside the wreck. But the areas where the bodies are is closed and not reachable. W
I always enjoy watching footage of shipwrecks although bittersweet due to the fact people have died. I’ve seen a lot but I feel this one is more than usual sad because it imprints the poor souls who perished; luggage, clothes, and that stereo at 3:47 that someone had moved from its original spot. And that ship sank fast; about 20 mins, first bow went under so quickly (estimated time is 10 mins) so you get lot of panicked people running all over, doesn’t give lot of time. Iirc lot of the people who did survive were ones who had been on top deck within minutes of the reef being struck.
@@MirkosEye Yeah without a doubt. Seen several videos from which the uploader who has dove on this wreck, and even commenters who have (or claim to) pretty much mentioned that same feeling as you did.
